NeoPhotonics Announces 56GBaud Laser and Drivers

NeoPhotonics Corporation announced here at the Optical Fiber Communications conference and exhibition its low power consumption 56GBaud EML lasers and drivers for both 4x100G PAM4 and 8x50G NRZ client side 400G transceivers. With the ever-growing demand for more bandwidth, datacenter operators and service providers are actively looking into the client side interface technologies beyond 100G, with 400G the clear next standard. NeoPhotonics’ latest 56GBaud products enable 400G interfaces with two possible solutions. First, with a PAM4 modulation scheme, the combination of a 56GBaud EML with a linear 56GBaud driver can achieve a 100Gbps data rate with one single laser. A 400G interface will use four wavelengths with PAM4 modulation. Second, a traditional NRZ modulation scheme with NeoPhotonics’ 56G EML and limiting driver can deliver 400G of capacity with eight wavelengths.

NeoPhotonics Releases Dual Rate 100G CFP4 LR4 Transceivers

NeoPhotonics Corporation introduced a new compact and dual rate 100G CFP4 LR4 for Telecom and Datacom applications. The 100G CFP4 LR4 requires much less power and is half the size compared to the current generation CFP2 form factor. Thus, the 100G CFP4 is an attractive next-generation 100G module for bandwidth hungry data center applications, where both port density and lower power are highly desired. The 100G CFP4 LR4 transceiver is designed to fully comply with the IEEE 802.3 100GBASE-LR4 and CAUI-4 Electrical Interface and OTN OTU4 standards for links up to 10km. It combines CFP4 MSA and MDIO functionality and is interoperable with previous generation of CFP and CFP2 modules. The 4-channel PIC-based integrated transmitter utilizes NeoPhotonics proven performance and high volume manufacturing platform of 28G EML lasers and drivers, which enable the best in class module performance, especially in OTN applications, inter-operability and easy deployment. Also at the Optical Fiber Communications conference and exhibition here, NeoPhotonics is showcasing its 100G Client transceivers alongside its existing product portfolio, including intradyne coherent receivers and narrow linewidth tunable lasers for 100G coherent communications and an extensive line of OLT transceivers for FTTH PON networks.

NeoPhotonics Corporation Adds Micro-Integrated Coherent Receiver to Its Suite of Products For 100G and 400G Coherent Transport

NeoPhotonics Corporation announced a micro-Integrated Coherent Receiver (Micro-ICR) which is designed to fully support the OIF implementation agreement OIF-DPC-MRX-02.0, Type 1. The Micro-ICR has a compact form factor that is approximately one quarter the size of the standard OIF 1.2 Type 1 ICR and one half the size of the new OIF 1.2 Type 2 ICR. It is designed to be used in coherent analog CFP2-ACO pluggable modules as well as in high density line cards. The Micro-ICR offers advanced features for optical power monitoring and adjustment using variable optical attenuators and is designed for use with a single laser for both the local oscillator and the transmitter. This new Micro-ICR joins a broad suite of optical products for 100G coherent communications from NeoPhotonics, including the OIF 1.2 Type 2 Small Form Factor ICR (Type 2 ICR) and the High Power Narrow-Linewidth, micro-Integrable Tunable Laser Assembly (micro-ITLA), both of which are now generally available and shipping to customers. These small form factor products are also designed to scale to 200G and 400G applications using higher order modulation schemes. In addition, NeoPhotonics is continuing volume shipments and increasing manufacturing capacity for its standard OIF 1.2 Type 1 ICR and its standard power ultra-narrow linewidth external cavity Micro-ITLA. NeoPhotonics will exhibit its suite of standard and small form factor PIC-based components and its modular Multi-Cast Switches, both for 100G coherent line-side applications, along with its 100G client-side CFP2 and CFP4 transceivers and its next generation transceivers for access networks in Booth 1511 at the Optical Fiber Communications (OFC) Exposition at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, California, March 24-26.
