The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited, an investment holding company, owns, develops, and manages hotels, and commercial and residential properties in Asia, the United States, and Europe. It operates through Hotels, Commercial Properties, and Clubs and Services segments. The Hotels segment operates hotels; and leases commercial shopping arcades and office premises located within the hotel buildings. The Commercial Properties segment leases commercial and office premises; and residential apartments, as well as operates food and beverage outlets in such premises. The Clubs and Services segment operates golf courses; wholesales and retails food and beverage products; and provides laundry services, and management and consultancy services for clubs, as well as operates The Peak Tram, a tramway. The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited is also involved in wholesaling and retailing of merchandise; lending and borrowing of funds; the operation of golf clubs; and the resort activities, as well as the provision of management and marketing services, and dry cleaning services. The company was formerly known as The Hongkong Hotel Company, Limited. The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited was founded in 1866 and is headquartered in Central, Hong Kong.

The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited Recommends Final Dividend for the Year Ended December 31, 2014, Payable on June 19, 2015

Based on the results, the Board of The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited has recommended a final dividend payable on June 19, 2015 of 18 Hong Kong cents per share compared to 12 Hong Kong cents per share in 2013. Together with the 2014 interim dividend of 5 Hong Kong cents per share paid on October 31, 2014, the total dividend in respect of the 2014 financial year will be 23 Hong Kong cents per share, an increase of 44% as compared to 16 Hong Kong cents in 2013. Subject to the approval by shareholders at the coming Annual General Meeting, such dividend will be payable to shareholders whose names appear on the register of members on May 19, 2015.

Hongkong & Shanghai Hotels Ltd. reported audited consolidated earnings results for the year ended December 31, 2014. For the year, the company reported turnover of HKD 5,838 million compared to HKD 5,508 million, operating profit before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortization of HKD 1,538 million compared to HKD 1,306 million, operating profit of HKD 1,105 million compared to HKD 911 million, profit before taxation of HKD 1,362 million compared to HKD 1,943 million, profit attributable to shareholders of the company of HKD 1,146 million or HKD 0.76 per basic and diluted share compared to HKD 1,712 million or HKD 1.14 per basic and diluted share, payment for the purchase of fixed assets of HKD 409 million compared to HKD 928 million for the last year. Net cash generated from operating activities was HKD 1.432 million against HKD 1.308 million a year ago. Underlying earnings per share was HKD 0.53 against HKD 0.34 a year ago. Underlying profit attributable to shareholders increased by 57% to HKD 804 million.
