The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited, together with its subsidiaries, engages in the production, distribution, marketing, and sale of gas in Hong Kong and Mainland China. It provides gas appliances under the TGC, SIMPA, and Bauhinia brands, as well as after-sales services. The company also acts as a piped city-gas operator, serving approximately 14.8 million residential, commercial, and industrial customers; and operates LPG filling stations, landfill gas utilization projects, aviation fuel storage facility, and onshore oil field projects. In addition, it focuses on the development of new energy projects covering resource exploitation, liquefaction of coalbed methane, coal-based chemicals, biomass energies, vehicular fuels, logistic hub, and related facilities. Further, the company offers a range of customer services, such as consultancy, construction, and maintenance in various engineering projects; operates as a utility contractor for water, drainage, sewerage, electricity, and telecommunications projects; provides telecommunication infrastructure services for telecom carriers, service providers, and large corporations; and supplies water and treats wastewater. Additionally, it engages in the design and production of polyethylene piping system and equipment; design, construction, installation, and commissioning of landfill gas treatment plants, liquefied nitrogen, and dry ice production plants; retail sale; and providing gas meters and metering system under the M-TECH brand, as well as cloud computing solutions, other IT products, and consulting services. It also operates cafés and restaurants; develops properties; invests in securities; and provides other financial and appliance testing services. The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited was founded in 1862 and is based in North Point, Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong and China Gas intended to invest about CNY 3 billion in mainland China's new energy projects and CNY 4 billion to CNY 5 billion in non-new energy project in 2015. The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited reported audited consolidated earnings results for the year ended December 31, 2014. For the year, the company reported revenue of HKD 31,614.7 million against HKD 28,245.9 million a year ago. Profit before taxation was HKD 9,874.6 million against HKD 9,410.8 million a year ago. Profit for the year was HKD 8,103.2 million against HKD 7,755.6 million a year ago. Profit for the year attributable to shareholders of the company was HKD 7,109.2 million against HKD 6,853.8 million a year ago.
