The company explores and develops oil fields, and produces and sells crude oil and natural gas; processes and purifies crude oil into refined petroleum products; and manufactures and sells petroleum products. It also owns and operates oil depots and service stations; and distributes and sells refined petroleum products, such as gasoline and diesel through wholesale and retail sales networks. In addition, the company manufactures and sells petrochemical products, derivative petrochemical products, and other chemical products, such as basic organic chemicals, synthetic resins, synthetic rubbers, synthetic fiber monomers and polymers, synthetic fibers, and chemical fertilizers. Further, it is also involved in the pipeline transportation of crude oil and natural gas; and production and sale of electricity, cement, and coal. Additionally, the company engages in the import and export of petroleum, natural gas, petroleum products, petrochemical and chemical products, and other commodities and technologies; and research, development, and application of technologies and information. China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in Beijing, the People’s Republic of China. China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation is a subsidiary of China Petrochemical Corporation.

China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. announced consolidated and company unaudited earnings and operating results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2015. For the quarter, the consolidated company announced total operating income was RMB 478,241 million compared to RMB 641,065 million a year ago. Operating profit was RMB 2,458 million compared to RMB 19,323 million a year ago. Profit before taxation was RMB 2,930 million compared to RMB 19,300 million a year ago. Net profit was RMB 1,980 million compared to RMB 14,482 million a year ago. Net profit attributable to equity shareholders of the company was RMB 1,685 million or RMB 0.014 per diluted share compared to RMB 13,477 million or RMB 0.115 per diluted share a year ago. Net cash flow from operating activities was RMB 6,682 million compared to RMB 12,621 million a year ago. Cash paid for acquisition of fixed assets, intangible assets and other long-term assets was RMB 33,417 million compared to RMB 34,663 million a year ago. The board of directors of China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation announced that, on 27 April 2015, the company was informed by China Petrochemical Corporation, that Mr. Wang Tianpu, non-executive Director and Vice Chairman of the company, is currently under investigation by the competent authorities for suspected severe violation of relevant discipline and laws. Mr. Wang Tianpu has tendered his resignation to the Board on 27 April 2015 and resigned from all his positions in the company, including non-executive Director and Vice Chairman, with immediate effect.
