GCL-Poly Energy Holdings Limited, an investment holding company, operates as a solar photovoltaic company in the People’s Republic of China and internationally. The company operates in three segments: Solar Material Business, Power Business, and Overseas Solar Power Plant Business. The Solar Material Business primarily manufactures and sells polysilicon and wafer to companies operating in the solar industry; and is engaged in the system integration business. The Power Business segment is involved in the development, construction, management, and operation of power plants; and sale of coal. Its power plants include coal fuelled cogeneration, resources utilization cogeneration, gas fuelled cogeneration, biomass fuelled cogeneration, incineration, and solar plants, as well as a wind power plant. As of December 31, 2013, this segment operated 30 power plants. The Overseas Solar Power Plant Business segment is engaged in the development, construction, management, operation, and sale of overseas solar plants. The company is also involved in the manufacture and sale of ingots, crucibles, and metallurgical grade silicons; trading of wafers, solar cells, modules, and steam; operation of boilers; and provision of management services. GCL-Poly Energy Holdings Limited has a strategic cooperation agreement with GCL New Energy Holdings Limited and China Singyes Solar Technologies Holdings Limited for the development, construction, operation, and upstream and downstream cooperation of distributed and ground photovoltaic power stations, supply chain of manufacturing photovoltaic material, project engineering, asset cooperation of photovoltaic power stations, and the smart microgrids project. The company was incorporated in 2006 and is headquartered in Kowloon, Hong Kong.

GCL-Poly Energy Holdings Ltd. reported audited consolidated earnings and production results for the year ended December 31, 2014. For the year, the company reported revenue of HKD 37,224.721 million against HKD 25,530.002 million a year ago. Profit before tax was HKD 2,794.718 million against loss before tax of HKD 255.713 million a year ago. Profit for the year attributable to owners of the company was HKD 1,955.049 million or 12.60 cents per diluted share against loss for the year attributable to owners of the company of HKD 664.263 million or 4.29 cents per diluted share a year ago. The increase in revenue was mainly due to growth in sales volume of wafer, coal trading and acquisition of New Energy Business. The group's capital commitments in respect of purchase of property, plant and equipment, constructions costs in respect of projects, and share capital commitment to a joint venture contracted for but not provided amounted to HKD 5,617.9 million, HKD 505.4 million and HKD 66.0 million, respectively against HKD 1,188.1 million, HKD 915.4 million and nil respectively a year ago. In addition, the group had capital commitments in respect of purchase of property, plant and equipment and share capital commitment to a joint venture which were authorised internally but not contracted for amounted to HKD 2,483.2 million and HKD 116.9 million against HKD 5,802.7 million and nil, respectively a year ago. The company announced that during the years ended December 31, 2013 and 2014, the company’s annual polysilicon production capacity was maintained at 65,000 MT. GCL-Poly operated its polysilicon business at full capacity for the year ended December 31, 2014, while 50,440 MT was produced for the same period last year.
