internet initiative japan (3774) Key Developments

Internet Initiative Japan Inc. to Launch IIJ Omnibus Service

Internet Initiative Japan Inc. has announced the September 2015 release of the IIJ Omnibus Service, a new type of cloud-based networking services. The new service employs Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) technologies to provide enterprise-class network capabilities as Network as a Service (NaaS). IIJ Omnibus uses the Network Processing System (NPS)-IIJ's proprietary development-as a gateway and provides Internet, security, Wide-Area Network (WAN), and other functions that customers' networks need as service modules. Using IIJ Omnibus, customers can enjoy asset-light access to the functions when needed, without having to own on-premises routers, VPNs, firewalls, or other network equipment. Thus, they can greatly reduce the overhead and costs of ever-more-complicated security measures and network operations. NPS forms the core of the customer's virtual network; IIJ's proprietary SDN orchestrator automatically generates an instance of the system in the cloud. The NPS instance is generated quickly after the customer places the order on the online portal, which enables the customer to start creating the network right away. Moreover, NPS flexibly accommodates expansions of the customer's network for its high scalability. The NPS cloud platform is physically distributed among multiple sites, so NPS is also effective as a disaster recovery measure for networks. The online portal of IIJ Omnibus has an ordering site where customers can add or cancel services; a control panel where they can configure, monitor, and manage services; and a support site where they can learn about maintenance and receive other information. All sites can be accessed through a single sign-on. Through the online portal, customers can contract for, configure, and manage all components offered as parts of IIJ Omnibus-NPS, the various functional modules, and the service adaptor. IIJ Omnibus automatically generates instances of NPS in private domains in the cloud that are dedicated to customers and provides various functional modules via the NPS gateways.

Internet Initiative Japan Inc. to Upgrade and Expand Cloud Service Portfolio for IaaS

Internet Initiative Japan Inc., or IIJ, has announced that it will upgrade and expand its cloud service portfolio for the IaaS that it offers through its IIJ GIO service and will add the IIJ GIO Infrastructure P2, or IIJ GIO P2, to its lineup in October 2015. IIJ will offer-together, as one unified service-a more reliable public cloud with increased processing performance and a private cloud that can be accessed instantly through an online application form. IIJ GIO P2 comprises three lines: public resources, which offer shared resources primarily through virtual servers, and private resources, which provide VMware virtual environments and physical servers as dedicated resources, and storage resources that customers can use with all servers that are part of the public and private resources. Customers can select the optimal combination of resources to build their systems. In addition, IIJ GIO P2 has excellent compatibility with multiple carriers and extensibility of private segments, as well as other features that enhance its external connectivity. The service enables customers to seamlessly integrate their own on-premises systems and third-party cloud service environments. IIJ GIO P2 delivers the 'one cloud'-a single cloud service that covers a wide range of customer needs.

Internet Initiative Japan to Launch Omnibus Cloud Networking Service in September

Internet Initiative Japan (IIJ) will launch a new type of cloud-based networking services in September. Dubbed 'IIJ Omnibus', the service is designed to virtualize the network functions and offer them to corporate customers on demand.
