Toray Industries, Inc. manufactures and sells fibers, textiles, plastics, chemicals, IT-related products, carbon fiber composite materials, environment and engineering products, and life science products worldwide. Its Fibers & Textiles segment provides filament yarns, staple fibers, and woven and knitted fabrics of nylon, polyester, acrylic fibers, etc.; non-woven fabrics; man-made suede; and apparel products. The company’s Plastics & Chemicals segment offers nylon, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, polybutylene terephthalate, polyphenylene sulphide (PPS), and other resins and molded products, polyolefin foam; polyester, polypropylene, PPS and other films and processed film products; raw materials for synthetic fibers and other plastics; zeolite catalysts; fine chemicals for pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals; and veterinary medicines. Its IT-Related Products segment provides films and plastic products for information and telecommunications related products; materials for electronic circuits and semiconductors; color filters for LCDs and related materials and equipment; materials for plasma display panels; magnetic recording materials; and graphic materials and related equipment. The company’s Carbon Fiber Composite Materials segment offers carbon fibers, carbon fiber composite materials, and related molded products. Its Environment & Engineering segment provides engineering services; industrial equipment and machinery; environment related equipment; water treatment membranes and related equipment; and materials for housing, building, and civil engineering applications, as well as develops, manufactures, and sells condominiums. The company’s Life Science segment offers pharmaceuticals and medical devices. Its Others segment provides analysis, survey, and research services. The company was formerly known as Toyo Rayon Co., Ltd. and changed its name to Toray Industries, Inc. in 1970. Toray Industries, Inc. was founded in 1926 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.

Toray Industries, Inc. Receives Order to Supply TORAYFIL Hollow Fiber UF Module in Yeosu

Toray Industries, Inc. has received an order to supply TORAYFIL hollow fiber ultrafiltration, or UF, membrane module to a water purification facility in the Republic of Korea in Yeosu. In this project, Toray is scheduled to supply TORAYFIL in 2016 and the plant is expected to start operations in 2017.

Toray Submits Application for Regulatory Approval of Pruritus Drug in Japan

Toray Industries, Inc. has submitted an application for Japanese approval of REMITCH capsules 2.5µg for an additional indication of pruritus treatment in chronic liver disease patients. It has already received manufacturing and marketing approval by Toray and is promoted and distributed by Torii Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. as a treatment of pruritus in hemodialysis patients in the country. In addition, Japan Tobacco Inc., Torii Pharmaceutical and Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co. Ltd. have agreed that Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma would promote the Agent's new indication, and Torii Pharmaceutical and Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma signed a promotion agreement. Under the terms of the agreement, once Toray obtains approval for the new indication of the Agent, Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma will provide drug information regarding the new indication at medical institutions, while Torii Pharmaceutical will continue to receive supply of the Agent from Toray and distribute it accordingly. The drug information regarding the treatment of pruritus in hemodialysis patients will continue to be provided by Torii Pharmaceutical. The Agent is the world's first highly selective kappa opioid receptor agonist created by Toray and has been distributed in Japan by Torii Pharmaceutical as a treatment of pruritus in hemodialysis patients since March 2009. It controls itching based on a mechanism that is different from antihistamines and anti-allergy drugs and, therefore, is expected to be effective on pruritus which cannot be controlled by existing treatments.
