EVA Air Orders Five Boeing 777 Freighters

EVA Air signed purchase agreements for five Boeing 777 freighters powered by GE90 engines in a signing ceremony with Boeing and GE officials in Taipei. EVA will take delivery of the first freighter in October 2017 and have all five in operation by September 2019. EVA's new Boeing 777 freighters will carry as much as a 102-ton payload. The aircraft will be powered by the same GE90-115B engines the carriers uses for its Boeing 777-300ERs. By choosing the same engines, EVA will enhance maintenance efficiency and reduce costs. The carrier will also benefit from the Boeing 777 family's fuel efficiency and environmental advantages. In comparison with the Boeing 747-400 freighters it is operating, Boeing 777 freighters can reduce fuel consumption by 25%. EVA currently operates a fleet of 71 aircrafts, including eight 747-400 freighters and six MD-11 freighters. As the new Boeing 777 freighters are delivered, they will be put to work on trans-Pacific and Asian routes, gradually replacing the existing freighter fleet. EVA's air cargo network covers 64 cities around the globe, including 7 destinations served by 44 freighter flights per week.

Eva Airways Corp. Approves Discuss the Amendment of the Articles of Incorporation

Eva Airways Corp. at the meeting of shareholders approved to discuss the amendment of the articles of incorporation.

EVA Air Inks Code Share Agreement with Turkish Airlines

As part of the agreement, EVA Air will place its marketing code on Turkish Airlines' daily flights to Taipei during the first stage of the partnership. Later, EVA will start Taipei-Istanbul service next year and Turkish Airlines will place its code as reciprocal on EVA operated flights. The code share agreement will enable passengers to benefit from a higher number of combined frequencies for better connectivity and improved travel flexibility between two countries. The route will attract leisure and business travellers from Taipei and Asia as it takes no more than two to three hours to fly to major cities in Europe including Frankfurt, Barcelona, Lisbon, Copenhagen and Stockholm. The agreement will see both the airlines working together to boost tourism and cultural exploration in Taipei and Istanbul and to facilitate business travel between the two regions. Furthermore, EVA and Turkish Airlines will sign a special prorate agreement (SPA) that allows passengers who book connecting flights with one ticket and check baggage all the way through to their destination.
