Korea South-East Power Co. Selects Doosan Corporation to Deliver Fuel Cell Equipment for Combined Cycle Power Plant in South Korea

Korea South-East Power Co., or KOSEP, has selected Doosan Corporation, an industrial infrastructure company, to deliver fuel cell equipment for the combined cycle power plant, or CCPP, to be constructed in Bundang, South Korea. The company was selected by Korea South-East Power Co. (KOSEP) in an open tender worth KRW 28 billion (about $25 million). Doosan Corporation also expects to sign a KRW 40 billion ($36 million) long-term service agreement (LTSA) for the operation of the fuel cells. The fuel cells have a combined capacity of 5.6 megawatts and are the double-layer structure type, meaning the fuel cell takes up only half the space of previous fuel cells, making it a useful alternative in busy urban areas. Fuel cells are a new and renewable energy technology that generates electricity by a chemical reaction involving hydrogen.
