TDK Corporation Expands its Portfolio of Multilayer Power Inductors

TDK Corporation has expanded its portfolio of multilayer power inductors with the new MLJ1608 high-performance series. Complementing the existing MLF1608 series of multilayer power inductors for signal lines, the MLJ1608 series was designed for use in near field communication (NFC) and power line applications especially in smartphones, tablets and NFC modules. The new multilayer power inductors feature a high Q of up to 30 at 13.56 MHz, a narrow inductance tolerance of just 5%, and excellent magnetic shielding characteristics. They thus meet all the requirements for coils used in NFC applications and are especially well-suited for the LC filtering circuit between the NFC control chip and antenna. The current lineup covers inductance values from 160 nH to 560 nH. Thanks to their high rated currents ranging from 550 mA to 750 mA, they ensure operational stability even when handling the AC signal currents in the range of 100 mA to 300 mA that are encountered when the communication circuit is active. The compact IEC 1608 package (EIA 0603) of the MLJ1608 series has a footprint of 1.6 mm x 0.8 mm and a low-profile insertion height of 0.8 mm. Mass production of the MLJ1608 series began in April of this year. The MLJ1608 series relies on a newly developed low-loss ferrite material from TDK which makes it possible to realize lower loss values with AC signals than achieved with similar sized wound coils. The superposition performance of the ferrite material has also been improved, resulting in characteristics that are on a par with those of conventional wound coils at the 300 mA peak current levels flowing in the NFC circuit.

TDK Corporation Announces Development of the CCG Series of Isolated Type Dc-Dc Converters

TDK Corporation announced the development of the CCG series of isolated type DC-DC converters to be marketed under the TDK-Lambda brand. TDK-Lambda Corporation will start accepting orders for the new product from June, and shipping will begin in July 2015. The CCG series products are onboard type DC-DC converters with a wide input range, based on a 1 x 1 inch footprint. The CCG30 model realizes a 30 watt output rating in a form factor of only one square inch, thereby helping to reduce control board space requirements. The input voltage range is 9 to 36 or 18 to 76 VDC, making the products suitable for use with battery powered equipment and control boards. In cases where separate versions (12 VDC /24 VDC) of earlier products such as the CC-E series were used, it is now possible to unify converter selection by adopting the wide-range CCG series, resulting in better design flexibility and contributing to higher productivity. The CCG series achieves a power density rating, providing up to 30 watts of power from a mounting footprint of only one square inch. Use of the new converters therefore reduces footprint requirements and enables higher mounting density on control boards for various types of equipment. TDK Corporation Announces New CLF7045NI-D Wirewound SMD Power Inductors

TDK Corporation has expanded its CLF-NI-D series of rugged power inductors for use in automotive electronics. The new CLF7045NI-D wirewound SMD power inductors feature high efficiency and reliability over a very wide temperature range extending from -55 °C to +150 °C and offer rated inductance values from 1.0 µH to 470 µH (E6 series). Measuring in at 7.4 mm x 7.0 mm x 4.5 mm, the CLF7045NI-D types are available for rated currents of 0.41 A to 8.5 A and offer DC resistance values ranging from 9 mO to 1.20 O. Mass production will be launched in August 2015. The new products are qualified to AEC-Q200. Due to TDK's advanced materials technology the new components feature outstanding heat resistance. A new bonding process for the terminals enables a solderless structural design that features improved mechanical strength. The fully automated manufacturing process ensures the high reliability and quality of these components. As a result, the new inductors are very well suited for applications in demanding automotive environments such as the power supply circuits of engine control modules (ECM) and ECUs for airbags, ABS, and headlights. The new CLF7045NI-D types with a 7 mm form factor complement the recently introduced 6 mm square CLF6045NI-D types. In the future, TDK will further expand the CLF-NI-D series with 5 mm, 10 mm and 12.5 mm square types in order to offer a broad lineup of power inductors that are suitable for a wide range of applications. Applications in rugged automotive environments such as the power supply circuits of engine control modules (ECM) and ECUs for airbags, ABS, and headlights.
