It operates and regulates a fully integrated exchange that offers a range of exchange-related services, including listing, trading, clearing, settlement, and depository services. The company offers securities, derivatives, Islamic market products, bonds, indices, information products, investment knowledge hub, central depository system accounts, consolidated central depository system statement of accounts, and securities borrowing and lending, as well as offers technology services related to trading. It also provides, operates, and maintains securities, derivatives, and offshore financial exchanges; a Shari’ah compliant commodity trading platform; a central depository for securities listed on the securities exchange; and a clearing house for the securities exchange, as well as an electronic trading platform for the bond market. In addition, the company compiles, provides, and disseminates prices and other information relating to securities quoted on the securities and derivatives exchanges, as well as data reported from the bond platform. Further, it acts as a nominee for Bursa Malaysia Depository and receives securities on deposit or for safe-custody or management; and offers funds or support to Malaysian individuals and organizations by way of scholarships, grants, donations, and other forms of financial assistance for educational, research, and charitable purposes. The company was formerly known as Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange Berhad and changed its name to Bursa Malaysia Berhad in April 2004. Bursa Malaysia Berhad was founded in 1973 and is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

This will enable it to keep track and identify patterns and trends in the multitude of stock and price movements in the market, among others.

Bursa Malaysia Berhad Reports Earnings Results for the Second Quarter and Six Months Ended June 30, 2016

Bursa Malaysia Berhad reported earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2016. For the period the company reported that its profit after tax and minority interest of MYR 49.5 million (SGD 16.6 million) little changed from a year ago. Revenue was also stagnant at about MYR 130 million from MYR 127 million a year ago. For the cumulative six months, its PATAMI improved by 3% to MYR 99.4 million, from MYR 96.5 million a year ago, on the back of total revenues of MYR 264 million from MYR 254 million a year ago. Earnings per share amounted to 18.60 sen against 18.10 sen in year-ago period. Profit before tax was MYR 140.0 million against MYR 136.3 million a year ago. Profit after tax was MYR 104.3 million against MYR 100.2 million a year ago. The company continued to record a return on equity (ROE) performance of 25%, despite global and domestic market challenges.
