It operates in two segments, Airline Business and Non-Airline Business. The company conducts airline operations principally to and from Hong Kong. It also offers airline catering, ground handling, aircraft ramp handling, aircraft engineering, property investment, financial, computer network for interchange of air cargo related information, information processing, laundry and dry cleaning, and food processing and catering services, as well as provides travel reward programs. In addition, the company operates as a travel tour operator, and as an aircraft acquisition and leasing facilitator; and operates cargo terminals. As of December 31, 2016, it operated a fleet of 202 aircraft serving 181 destinations in 43 countries and territories. The company has strategic agreements with Air New Zealand. Cathay Pacific Airways Limited was founded in 1946 and is headquartered in Lantau, Hong Kong.

Cathay Pacific Reports Traffic Results for the Month and Year to Date ended March 2017

Cathay Pacific Airways reported traffic results for the month and year to date ended March 2017. For the month, the company reported total RPK of 10,214,609,000 decreased by 1.0% compared to previous year and total ASK of 12,330,894,000 increase by 0.3% compared to previous year. Passenger load factor were 82.8%, decrease of 1.1% and cargo and mail load factor was 70.3%, increase of 7.3%. Passengers carried were 2,851,661. For the year to date, the company reported total RPK of 30,714,743,000 decreased by 0.2% compared to previous year and total ASK of 36,446,359,000 decrease by 0.4% compared to same period previous year. Passenger load factor were 84.3%, increase of 0.2 pt and cargo and mail load factor was 65.6%, increase of 4.5 pt in the same period previous year. Passengers carried were 8,499,556.

Cathay Pacific Enters into Code Share with Air Canada for Reciprocal Mileage Accrual

Cathay Pacific and Air Canada on December 23, announced they have finalized a strategic co-operation agreement that will enhance travel services for Cathay Pacific customers when travelling within Canada and for Air Canada customers travelling via Hong Kong to Southeast Asian countries including the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand. Cathay Pacific and Air Canada customers will be able to book travel to their final destination on a single ticket with through-checked bags as well as enjoy reciprocal mileage accrual and redemption benefits. Cathay Pacific customers will be able to book travel on Air Canada flights connecting with Cathay Pacific's up to three daily flights to Vancouver and up to two daily services to Toronto from Hong Kong. Cathay Pacific will place its code on Air Canada flights to all major cities across Canada including Winnipeg, Victoria, Edmonton, Calgary, Kelowna, Regina, Saskatoon, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec, Halifax and St. Johns.

Cathay Pacific Announces Executive Changes

The board of directors of Cathay Pacific announced that Mr. CHU Kwok Leung Ivan, an Executive Director and the current Chief Executive of the company, will be re-designated as a Non-Executive Director on his appointment as Chairman of John Swire & Sons (China) Limited. At the same time, he will step down as Chairman of Hong Kong Dragon Airlines Limited (Cathay Dragon). Mr. Rupert Bruce Grantham Trower HOGG, an Executive Director and the current Chief Operating Officer of Cathay Pacific, will be appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Cathay Pacific. He will become Chairman of Cathay Dragon and will remain the chairman of the executive committee of Cathay Dragon. All these changes will take with effect from 1 May 2017. The board of directors also announced that with effect from, June 1, 2017, Mr. LOO Kar Pui Paul will be appointed as an Executive Director of Cathay Pacific on his appointment as Chief Customer and Commercial Officer of Cathay Pacific. Mr. Gregory Thomas Forrest HUGHES will be appointed as an Executive Director of Cathay Pacific on his appointment as Chief Operations and Service Delivery Officer of Cathay Pacific. Mr. Martin James MURRAY, an Executive Director of Cathay Pacific, will be retitled from Finance Director to Chief Financial Officer of Cathay Pacific but without any change in his responsibilities. Mr. YAU, Ying Wah (Algernon) will resign as an Executive Director of Cathay Pacific on his appointment as Director Service Delivery of Cathay Pacific. He will remain as Chief Executive Officer of Cathay Dragon. Mr. Chu joined the John Swire & Sons Limited (Swire) group in 1984 and has worked with the group in Hong Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan, Thailand and Australia. Mr. Rupert Bruce Grantham Trower HOGG joined the Swire group in 1986 and has worked with the group in Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, Australia and the United Kingdom. Mr. LOO Kar Pui Paul has been Director Corporate Development & IT of Cathay Pacific since June 2016. Mr. Gregory Thomas Forrest HUGHES joined the Swire group in 1987 and worked with Cathay Pacific in Hong Kong, Korea, Indonesia, Japan and Australia from October 1989 to August 2009.
