It offers nylon, polyester, acrylics of filament yarns, staple fibers, spun yarns, and woven and knitted fabrics of nylon, as well as polyester and acrylics; non-woven fabrics; man-made suede and apparel products; plastic resins and films; raw materials for synthetic fibers and plastics; zeolite catalysts; fine chemicals, such as raw materials for pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals; and veterinary medicines. The company also provides films and plastic products for information and telecommunication related products; electronic circuits and semiconductor related materials; color filters for LCDs and related materials; magnetic recording materials; and graphic materials and IT-related equipment. In addition, it offers carbon fibers, carbon fiber composite materials, and molded products; pharmaceuticals and medical devices; and analysis, physical evaluation, and research related services. Further, the company offers engineering services; condominiums; industrial equipment and machinery; environment-related equipment; water treatment membranes and related equipment; and materials for housing, building and civil engineering applications. The company was formerly known as Toyo Rayon Co., Ltd. and changed its name to Toray Industries, Inc. in 1970. Toray Industries, Inc. was founded in 1926 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.

Toray Industries to Build Polyphenylene Sulphide Compound Plant in Hungary

Toray Industries will build a new polyphenylene sulphide (PPS) compound plant in Hungary. The plant at the Hungarian site of Toray's US subsidiary Zoltek is expected to start up in March 2018 with a capacity of 3,000 tonnes/year. It will be Toray's first PPS compound plant in Europe, where demand for the resins has been rising in automotive and industrial applications.

Toray Industries, Inc Announces Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended June 30, 2017; Provides Consolidated Earnings Guidance for the Six Months and Full Year of Fiscal 2018

Toray Industries, Inc. announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended June 30, 2017. For the quarter, the company reported net sales were ¥508,088 million against ¥478,108 million a year ago. Operating income was ¥38,855 million against ¥41,001 million a year ago. Ordinary income was ¥39,735 million against ¥41,803 million a year ago. Net income attributable was ¥26,097 million against ¥29,691 million a year ago. Diluted earnings per share were ¥16.3 against ¥18.55 a year ago. Capital expenditures for the first quarter increased by ¥6.8 billion to ¥32.7 billion on a year-to-year comparison. The company provided earnings guidance for the six months and full year of fiscal 2018. For the six months ending September 30, 2017, the company expected consolidated net sales of ¥1,050,000 million, operating income of ¥78,000 million, ordinary income of ¥77,000 million, net income attributable to owners of parent of ¥47,000 million and EPS to be ¥29.39. For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2018, the company expected consolidated net sales of ¥2,220,000 million, operating income of ¥165,000 million, ordinary income of ¥162,000 million, net income attributable to owners of parent of ¥100,000 million and EPS to be ¥62.52.
