Daiwa Securities Group Inc., together with its subsidiaries, primarily operates as a securities broker dealer in Japan and internationally. It offers brokerage, trading, underwriting, strategic advice, product development, and structured finance. The company operates through Retail, Wholesale, Asset Management, Investment, and Other divisions. The Retail division provides face-to-face consulting services, as well as allows customers to transact their investments through the Internet or telephone calls. It also offers investment products, including domestic and overseas stocks and bonds, mutual funds, pension insurance, and fund wrap/SMA account services, as well as securities-backed loans. The Wholesale division sells equities, bonds, foreign exchange, and derivative products to institutional investors and corporations; and provides securities trading and financial products. This division also underwrites stock and bond issues; handles initial public offering; and offers mergers and acquisitions advisory services. The Asset Management division establishes and manages investment trusts for individual investors; provides investment advisory services to pension funds and other institutional investors; and manages REITs and financial assets, as well as offers fund management services. The Investment division is engaged in the investment activities, such as private equity stakes, corporate loan investments, and energy investments. The Other division is involved in the research and consulting activities; and provision of information and other support systems, as well as securities-banking services. The company was founded in 1902 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.
