It also offers solid waste management; airport ground handling; mail, courier, and retail postal; higher education and vocational training; and Islamic banking and related financial services, as well as integrated logistics and inventory solutions. In addition, the company engages in property holding, development, and construction activities; maintains, markets, and refurbishes military and commercial vehicles; designs and develops aircrafts; produces and markets mission systems equipment; constructs, operates, and maintains infrastructure and broadcast systems; manufactures and sells thermoplastic and setting products, and aerospace and non-aerospace components; trades in mobile receptacles; manufactures and sells dies, molds, and jigs related products; operates shopping malls, hotels, marina and golf resorts, and sanitary landfills; and provides waste treatment and environmental management services. DRB-HICOM Berhad Reports Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended June 30, 2016

DRB-HICOM Berhad reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended June 30, 2016. For the quarter, the company reported revenue of MYR 2,500,578,000 compared to MYR 2,950,227,000 a year ago. Loss from operations was MYR 125,075,000 compared to profit from operations of MYR 15,838,000 a year ago. Loss before taxation was MYR 121,339,000 compared to profit before taxation of MYR 16,679,000 a year ago. Net loss attributable to owners of the company was MYR 169,302,000 compared to MYR 19,718,000 a year ago. Basic and diluted loss per share was 8.76 sen compared to 1.02 sen a year ago. Net cash outflow from operating activities was MYR 432,737,000 against MYR 1,655,896,000 a year ago. Purchase of property, plant and equipment/intangible assets/investment properties was MYR 217,150,000 against MYR 339,292,000 a year ago. The lower financial resultswas mainly attributed to lower sales of motor vehicles by the automotive companies during the current quarter.

DRB-Hicom May Sell Up To 100% Of Proton

DRB-HICOM Berhd (KLSE:DRBHCOM) is expecting as many as seven bids for Proton Holdings Bhd by the middle of this month and may even sell as much as 100% of the national car manufacturer to foreign buyers. According to industry sources, DRB-Hicom has advised key stakeholders of the possibility that Proton will be wholly disposed of. The whole process is expected to be completed by the first quarter of next year. “They (DRB-Hicom) have made it clear that they are willing to sell up to 100% of Proton. Of course, how much they sell will depend on the proposals and prices they receive. The important thing is that the door is now open,” explains a source. As previously reported by The Edge, French car manufacturers PSA Peugeot Citroën S.A. and Renault SA (ENXTPA:RNO have been in talks with Proton since the beginning of the year. Other automakers that are said to be in the running are Germany’s Volkswagen AG (XTRA:VOW3) and America’s General Motors Company (NYSE:GM). Naturally, Japan’s Suzuki Motor Corporation (TSE:7269) is another top contender, given the memorandum of understanding that the two had signed last year for long-term cooperation. At least one Chinese automaker, believed to be Geely Motors Company (NYSE:GM).
