ORIX Corporation provides financial services. It operates through six segments: Corporate Financial Services, Maintenance Leasing, Real Estate, Investment and Operation, Retail, and Overseas Business. The Corporate Financial Services segment engages in lending, leasing, and fee businesses. The Maintenance Leasing segment is involved in leasing, automobile rental, and car sharing activities; lease and rental of precision measuring and information technology related equipment; and the sale of software packages, as well as the provision of technical support, equipment calibration, and asset management services. The Real Estate segment engages in the development and leasing of office buildings, commercial properties, logistics centers, and residential properties; and operation of hotels, Japanese inns, aquariums, golf courses, training facilities, senior housings, baseball stadiums, and theaters. This segment also offers asset management and real estate finance, REIT asset management, and real estate investment advisory services. The Investment and Operation segment is involved in the collection and disposal of waste from end-of-lease assets; operates renewable energy source, such as solar, wind, and geothermal power generation projects; and investment of private equities and non-performing loans. The Retail segment engages in life insurance, banking, and card loan businesses. The Overseas Business segment is involved in leasing, lending, investment in bonds, investment banking, asset management, and ship-and aircraft-related operations in the United States, Asia, Australasia, and Europe. The company was formerly known as Orient Leasing Co., Ltd. and changed its name to ORIX Corporation in 1989 to reflect its diversification into financial services other than leasing. ORIX Corporation was founded in 1964 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.

ORIX Corporation reported consolidated unaudited earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended December 31, 2016. For the third quarter, the company reported total revenues of JPY 704,644 million against JPY 626,886 million a year ago. Operating income was JPY 81,218 million against JPY 70,136 million a year ago. Income before income taxes was JPY 114,861 million against JPY 83,927 million a year ago. Net income attributable to company's shareholders was JPY 74,698 million against JPY 74,968 million a year ago. Diluted earnings per share were JPY 57.26 against JPY 41.25 a year ago. Net cash provided by operating activities was JPY 357,265 million against JPY 443,035 million a year ago. Purchases of lease equipment were JPY 696,943 million against JPY 624,957 million a year ago. ORIX In Talks To Buy Stake In Nova IVI

ORIX Corporation (TSE:8591) is in talks to buy a minority stake in Nova IVI Fertility, two people close to the development said. According to the first of the two people, Orix plans to buy shares from the company's promoters including founder Mahesh Reddy and existing private equity investors for INR 2.5-3 billion. The details of stake dilution and company valuation are not available. Investment bank Lincoln International is advising the company. The second person, who said talks have been on for the past 6-8 months, said a couple of global private equity funds, too, are in talks. Both people spoke on condition of anonymity.
