GIGABYTE Technology Announces Availability and Production Shipments of Extensive Cavium Thunderx-Based Server Portfolio

GIGABYTE Technology announced availability of their extensive Cavium ThunderX-based server portfolio. All platforms are now available for order, and shipments to numerous end customers and OEMs have already begun. The Gigabyte ThunderX-based servers available for order include: Single-socket 1U R120-T30 servers, in 4 x 3.5" HDD and 12 x 2.5" HDD configurations. Dual-socket 1U R150-T60 servers, in 4 x 3.5" HDD and 10 x 2.5" HDD configurations. Dual-socket 2U R270-T60 servers in 12 x 3.5" HDD and 24 x 2.5" HDD configurations. Dual-socket 2U G220-T60 GPU servers, available with two GPUs and 24 x 2.5" HDD. Dual-socket 2U 4-nodes H270-T70 and H260-T70 high density servers. These new Gigabyte servers deliver up to 384 ThunderX cores in a standard 2U chassis, maximum 64 DIMMs supporting high speed DDR4 memory, hardware-based workload acceleration, and integrated 40Gb Ethernet network. High processor core count combined with high end onboard memory and networking enables the platforms with enormous potential for operators of core-intensive applications looking for uncompromised performance. Additionally, flexible choices in form factors enable high-performance compute or balanced compute and storage acceleration for the most demanding applications in big data, large-scale web and virtualization domains along with lowered acquisition cost and TCO.

GIGA-BYTE Technology Co. Ltd. has introduced its new lineup of motherboards based on the new Intel C230 series chipset family. Supporting the brand new Intel Xeon processor E3-1200 V5 product family (former codename Greenlow), this new lineup includes at launch two workstation motherboards and two server motherboards. Formerly known as Greenlow, this new generation of single socket server and workstation processors is based on the 14nm process technology and designed with the new Skylake microarchitecture. Among the main features of this new product family is the adoption of the DDR4 memory technology within the Xeon E3 line of processors, which brings a significant memory speed and capacity boost over the previous generation (up to 64GB at 2133MHz compared to up to 32GB at 1866MHz with the previous generation). The other main new feature is the increase of the number and speed of PCIe lanes available from up to 8 Gen2 lanes to up to 20 Gen3 lanes, which opens the door for wider board configuration possibilities. The MW31-SP0 is GIGABYTE's first ATX workstation motherboard supporting the Intel Xeon processor E3-1200 V5 product family. With its comprehensive set of features and GIGABYTE's server grade components and build quality, this motherboard is an ideal solution for professional tower workstations requiring a high level of durability. Notably, it features a mezzanine card slot with four PCIe lanes with custom mounting sockets to receive one of proprietary LAN controller cards. Positioned right between the board's CPU socket and its rear I/O, it can be used to add functions (for example a Thunderbolt port, or an additional M.2 slot) to the standard interface and fit into a larger range of possible network scenarios. The MX11-PC0 is a Mini-ITX form factor server motherboard designed for high density or low-profile server integration. With a rackmount optimized component placement, this motherboard makes no compromise in spite of its size and provides all the features required to build a professional server, including comprehensive integrated remote management features via IPMI 2.0 web interface. Also, it is the first GIGABYTE server motherboard to be released with a mini-SAS HD connector capable to connect to one NVMe drive.
