Its Beverage segment processes, bottles, and distributes sparkling beverage products; and distributes still beverage products. This segment offers LOHAS juices. Its Kitchen Food segment sells, distributes, and markets edible oil, sugar, soy sauce, vinegar, MSG, seasoning sauce, and cereal products. This segment sells its edible oils and condiments under the Fortune brand; and honey and cereals under the LOHAS brand. The company’s Wine segment produces, sells, and trades in grape, Chinese yellow rice, red, white, and other wine products. This segment offers single varietal wines, as well as blended wines with various grape varieties. It also produces brandies and sparkling wines; and sells its wine products primarily under the Greatwall, Kong yiji, and Huangzhonghuang Shaoxing brand names. The company’s Confectionery segment develops, produces, markets, and distributes a range of snack foods, including chocolates, candies, and nuts. This segment sells its products under the brand names of Le conté and Merveille. Its Others segment distributes other consumer food and beverage products. The company is also involved in the exploitation and operation of vineyards; provision of hospitality and conference services; retailing bulk foods and related materials; and provision of information consulting and management services. China Foods Limited has a strategic partnership with The Coca-Cola Company for bottling and distributing Coca-Cola beverages. The company was founded in 1990 and is headquartered in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. China Foods Limited is a subsidiary of COFCO (Hong Kong) Limited.

China Foods Limited provided group earnings guidance for the six months ended June 30, 2015. For the period, the company expected to record a consolidated net profit attributable to the owners of the parent of not less than HKD 100 million compared to a consolidated net loss attributable to the owners of the parent of approximately HKD 135 million for the six months ended June 30, 2014. The expected turnaround was mainly attributable to a continuous improvement in the overall operating efficiency of the group; and marked increases in both revenue and sales volume of wines compared with the same period of last year as a result of a significant improvement in operating condition of the wine category business.

Cofco Seeks Restructuring

COFCO Corporation has invited investment banks to submit proposals for a possible group restructuring, people with knowledge of the matter said. Cofco will consider combining units and selling peripheral businesses to improve profitability, according to the people. Possibilities that may be proposed include Cofco’s cooking-oil producer China Foods Limited (SEHK:506) divesting its confectionery business or merging with a sister company such as oilseed processor China Agri-Industries Holdings Limited (SEHK:606), they said, asking not to be identified as the information is private.
