Parade Technologies, Ltd. Introduces 16-Channel 8Gb/S PCI Express Redriver

Parade Technologies, Ltd. announced a new high-speed data signal repeater targeting enterprise systems. The PS8566 is a PCIe (PCI Express) redriver chip that integrates 16 independent redriver channels. Rates up to 8Gb/sec are supported, making it compatible with the widely used PCIe 3.0 standard. The PS8566 removes signal distortion that results when sending high speed data over an electrical interface. By incorporating the PS8566 into the PCIe signal path, either on the system PCB or within the interconnect cable, the PCB path or interconnect cable can be made longer, enabling system flexibility and scalability. To maximize data transfer integrity and reliability, each PCIe channel in the PS8566 has configurable equalization and de-emphasis. The support of a 16-channel bus width makes it ideal for workstations and data center applications including storage and servers. A key feature of the PS8566 for enterprise installations is the low power consumption and low heat generation. Leveraging years of experience developing redrivers for low-power, battery-operated applications, Parade designed the PS8566 to consume less than 40mW per channel, the lowest in its class. To further reduce power and heat, the PS8566 implements a configurable automatic power saving feature; when enabled, a channel not receiving data is put into low power mode.

Parade Technologies Introduces 2-Lane 8Gb/s PCI Express and SATA Redriver

Parade Technologies, Ltd. announced another addition to the company’s high-speed signal integrity product lineup. The PS8559 is a new high-speed digital interface redriver that supports both PCIe (PCI Express) and SATA. This IC features four redriver channels enabling the support of two bi-directional lanes. The PS8559 handles PCIe up to 8Gb/sec and SATA up to 6Gb/sec. By supporting PCIe and SATA, the PS8559 is ideal for the SATA Express interface which utilizes both of these interface standards and is used for PC storage devices. The support of two PCIe lanes also makes the PS8559 well suited for the newer M.2 interface used in PCs and laptops. The M.2 interface, which supports M.2 periphery cards such as the high transfer rate M.2 SSD cards, supports two or four PCIe lanes. Other applications for the PS8559 include server-class PCIe SSD, and PCIe cabling. At this speed, the allowable distance through PCB traces and other interconnect becomes limited because of signal distortion. This is where the PS8559 come into play; placed along the signal path, or near the end of the path by the peripheral connector, it cleans up and re-transmits the PCIe or SATA signal, both increasing data transmission reliability and enabling system design flexibility. For each of the four PCI Express or SATA channels, the PS8559 integrates a receiver, an adaptive filter that removes distortion, and a transmitter. The PS8559 is optimized for low power and includes an automatic power saving mode, making it well suited for portable systems. Availability: The PS8559 is sampling now, in two versions. The PS8559A supports a single supply of 1.2, 1.35, or 1.5 Volts. The PS8559B supports a single 3.3 Volt supply. Both versions are packaged in a small 4x6mm QFN Halogen-free RoHS package.
