B&K Precision Introduces a New 300 W Dual-Channel DC Load Module, the MDL302

B&K Precision introduced a new 300 W dual-channel DC load module, the MDL302, for use with its modular programmable DC electronic load system, the MDL Series. The MDL302 adds to the six DC electronic load modules already offered in the series ranging in power from 200 W to 600 W. Compared to the existing dual-channel module MDL252 with a variable 250W/50W configuration, this new DC load module provides a true dual channel design and an increased current range. The MDL302 can support a full 300 W on each input channel with a voltage and current operating range up to 80 V/45 A, offering the power dual channel DC load module. Suitable for use in a variety of industries such as automotive, solar, and electronics manufacturing, this high performance DC electronic load system is designed for testing a wide range of DC power sources, including multi-output AC/DC power supplies, batteries, fuel cells, and photovoltaic arrays. Unique to the MDL302 is its high power density of 300 W per channel, which saves valuable module install space. When installing multiple modules, this enables the MDL Series mainframe to have up to 8 or more 300 W channels - up to 16 channels can be supported with the MDL002 mainframe extension. The load modules in the MDL Series mainframe can be used independently or synchronized and paralleled for increased current and power. The MDL302 DC load module can operate in constant current (CC), constant voltage (CV), constant resistance (CR), constant power (CW), and constant impedance (CZ) mode, which uses DSP technology to simulate realistic non-linear loading behavior. With a high resolution 16-bit measurement system, the MDL Series system provides many useful features such as adjustable current slew rates in CC mode, transient mode operation up to 25 kHz, and list mode programming for generating complex sequences of input changes. Up to 101 groups of setting parameters can also be saved for executing multiple test sequences in automatic production testing. For remote PC control, the MDL302 is supported by the mainframe's standard GPIB, Ethernet, USB, and RS232 interfaces compatible with USBTMC and SCPI communication protocols. The mainframe also offers a built-in 8-pin control terminal for external triggering and synchronous load On/Off functions. The DC load module includes an analog current control and monitoring terminal for external analog programming. Additionally, the MDL302 continues to provide all necessary protection functions for various testing conditions: overvoltage (OVP), overcurrent (OCP), overpower (OPP), overtemperature (OTP), and local and remote reverse voltage (LRV/RRV) protection.
B&K Precision Expands AC Power Source Offerings with Two Additional Models

B&K Precision announced the expansion of its 9801 programmable AC power source offering with the addition of two new high power AC sources, models 9803 and 9805. The new 9803 and 9805 can deliver up to 750 VA and 1500 VA respectively, and also measure AC voltage, current, and power parameters. Both sources can operate in a 0-300 V continuous sweep range or 150 V/300 V auto-switching range with adjustable start and stop phase angle control. Like the 9801, the new models provide built-in PLD (power line disturbance) simulator, list, sweep, and dimmer mode, making the units suitable for simulating various AC power conditions for production, R&D, and pre-compliance testing applications. When selecting an AC source, it is important to consider the input current demands of the device under test. Devices such as motors may require high inrush current that exceeds its nominal operating current multiple times just to start up. Therefore, programmable AC sources with high peak instantaneous current capabilities are necessary to be able to test these devices. With a crest factor of 4, the 9803 and 9805 meets this requirement. The 9803 and 9805 feature low distortion, single-phase AC outputs with programmable RMS voltage up to 300 V, maximum RMS current up to 12 A, and adjustable frequency from 45 Hz to 500 Hz. These AC sources are capable of delivering up to 24 A or 48 A peak current. Provided on the front panel are two universal AC output sockets and an easy-to-use rotary knob to set AC waveform parameters. Similar to the 9801, the bright VFD display continuously monitors the output voltage, current, frequency, power factor, elapsed output time, and apparent/true power. The rear also includes an additional AC output terminal block for wire connection and a BNC connector for output On/Off control and monitoring, external triggering, and synchronization. The new models continue to offer standard RS232, USBTMC-compliant USB, and LAN along with an additional GPIB interface for remote control and programming. Built-in simulation functions include list mode with PLD simulator, sweep, and phase-cut dimming output. The simulation modes allow users to program varying steps of voltage, frequency, width, slope, and disturbances, sweep the output voltage and frequency, and control the phase cut-off of the AC sine wave's leading or trailing edge. For pre-compliance testing, voltage fluctuations and frequency simulations can be set up according to IEC61000-4-11, IEC61000-4-14, and IEC61000-4-28. Furthermore, the 9803 and 9805 provide several protection features: overvoltage (OVP), overcurrent (OCP), overpower (OPP), and overtemperature (OTP) protection, settable voltage and frequency limits, key lock function, and RMS/peak current protection settings to shut off the output when a load exceeds the set current. B&K Precision Expands Popular Multi-Range System Power Supply Series with 3000 W Model

B&K Precision announced the expansion of its 9115 Series with the addition of a new multi-range programmable DC power supply, model 9117. The new 9117 can deliver up to 3000 W of output power in any combination of voltage up to 80 V and current up to 120 A within its power rating. While offering more than twice the output power as current models in the 9115 Series, the 9117 continues to provide a high density, compact form factor with its 2U 19" rackmountable design. The power supply's extensive remote interface offerings, increased current range, and low cost-per-watt make it suitable for a variety of benchtop or ATE system applications requiring higher power. Conventional power supplies with fixed output ratings limit the range of voltage and current operation available to the user. The 9117's multi-ranging capability automatically recalculates voltage and current limits for each setting and can provide wide voltage and current operating ranges without forfeiting high output power, thus eliminating the need for large bulky power supplies or multiple units. Front panel features from the current 9115 Series models carry over to the 9117, which include a bright VFD display, independent voltage and current control knobs, cursors, and a numerical keypad for direct data entry. The new model also provides internal memory storage to save and recall up to 100 different instrument settings and configurable overvoltage and overpower protection limits. In addition to the standard USBTMC-compliant USB, RS-232, GPIB, and RS-485 interfaces supporting SCPI commands, the 9117 adds a LAN remote interface. The power supply still offers adjustable voltage rise and fall times, master/slave mode for series or parallel connectivity, remote sense, and an analog interface with control and monitoring functions. The instrument provides external sequence programming capability via remote PC control software.
