B&K Precision Launches New AC Source with Power Line Disturbance Simulator
May 4 15
B&K Precision introduced a new AC power source, the model 9801, expanding its AC power supply offerings. This compact 19" half-rack single-phase AC source outputs up to 300 VA and measures AC power characteristics. Users can operate the AC source in a 0-300 V continuous sweep range or 150 V/300 V auto-switching range with adjustable start and stop phase angle control. With a built-in power line disturbance (PLD) simulator, list, sweep, and dimmer mode, the 9801 is suitable for simulating various AC power conditions and provides a complete solution for manufacturing, R&D, and pre-compliance testing applications. The 9801 features a low distortion, single-phase AC output with programmable RMS voltage up to 300 V, maximum RMS current up to 3 A, and adjustable frequency from 45 Hz to 500 Hz. The power source is also capable of delivering up to 12 A peak current. Provided on the front panel is a universal AC output socket and an easy-to-use rotary knob to set AC waveform parameters. The bright VFD display continuously displays the output voltage, peak and RMS current, frequency, power factor, apparent/true power, and elapsed time. The rear includes an additional AC output terminal block for wire connection and an external BNC connector for output On/Off control and monitoring, external triggering, and synchronization. Users will also benefit from the 9801's standard RS232, USBTMC-compliant USB, and LAN interfaces for remote control and programming. Built-in simulation functions include list mode with PLD simulator, sweep, and phase-cut dimming output. The simulation modes allow users to program varying steps of voltage, frequency, width, slope, and disturbances, sweep the output voltage and frequency, and control the phase cut-off of the AC sine wave's or trailing edge. For pre-compliance testing, voltage fluctuations and frequency simulations can be set up according to IEC61000-4-11, IEC61000-4-14, and IEC61000-4-28.
B&K Precision Corporation Unveils New DC Electronic Load Series
Jan 28 15
B&K Precision announced its new 8600 Series programmable DC electronic loads. Delivering the performance of modular system DC electronic loads in a compact benchtop form factor. The new series includes three models of 150 W - 250 W DC electronic loads that can sink current up to 60 A at wide voltage ranges up to 500 V. All models provide fast transient operation speeds up to 25 kHz along with built-in battery and LED test mode functions, making these high-performance DC loads suitable for testing and evaluating a variety of DC sources such as DC power supplies, DC-DC converters, batteries, LED drivers, and photovoltaic arrays. Most electronic loads regulate their input current or voltage using constant current (CC) mode or constant voltage (CV) mode. The 8600 Series can operate in any of these modes along with constant resistance (CR) and constant power (CW) mode. In addition, the 8600 Series provides transient, list, and automatic test functions for more complex loading profiles of varying load levels, switching times, and operation modes. For remote control and programming, the 8600 Series includes standard GPIB, USB, and RS232 interfaces supporting USBTMC and SCPI communication protocols. The instrument also offers terminals on the rear for external triggering, input On/Off control, voltage fault monitoring, remote sense, and external analog current control and monitoring. LabVIEW drivers are provided along with free application software for front panel emulation, generation and execution of test sequences, and logging measurements via a PC. Users can integrate this application software with NI's Data Dashboard app to create custom dashboards on smartphones and tablets for additional monitoring functions.
