Balenciaga Announces Appointment of Cedric Charbit as CEO of the maison Effective November 28, 2016

Kering announced the appointment of Cedric Charbit as CEO of the maison Balenciaga, effective November 28, 2016. He will report directly to Francois-Henri Pinault, chairman and CEO of Kering. Cedric Charbit has been executive vice-president of product and marketing at Yves Saint Laurent since May 2016, a maison he joined in 2012. He has held various senior positions in the luxury sector over the last sixteen years. As CEO of Balenciaga, he will support the development of the house and further accelerate its international growth. Cedric Charbit will succeed Isabelle Guichot. During her nine years at the helm of Balenciaga, Isabelle Guichot made a fundamental contribution to its growth and reputation on a global scale.

Balenciaga Appoints Demna Gvasalia as Artistic Director

Balenciaga announced the appointment of Demna Gvasalia as the new artistic director of Balenciaga's collections, effective October 7, 2015. Demna Gvasalia will take creative responsibility for the brand's collections and the image of the maison. He will present his first collection for the brand at the women's ready-to-wear autumn/winter 2016-17 show in Paris. In 2009, Demna Gvasalia joined Maison Martin Margiela, where he was responsible for women's collections until 2013. Alongside his new role as artistic director of Balenciaga's collections, Demna Gvasalia will continue to fulfill his responsibilities for the VETEMENTS brand.
