Blue Shield of California to Move 650 Employees to Rancho Cordova

Blue Shield of California has signed a 10-year lease to occupy nearly 175,000 square feet in a two-building complex in Rancho Cordova and plans to move hundreds of workers to the site later this year. The company announced that 650 workers from Blue Shield's campus in El Dorado Hills will move to the Rancho Cordova complex between October and December. They will move into 3300 Zinfandel Drive and the neighboring structure at 10834 International Drive - along the Highway 50 corridor. Interior modifications and upgrades will be done at the buildings between now and October.

Accomplished customer service executive Todd Walthall has joined Blue Shield of California as senior vice president for customer experience. Walthall will work to streamline customer operations and improve the experience of the customer at all levels of the company. Walthall brings more than 20 years of customer service leadership to Blue Shield, most recently as vice president of digital service integration at American Express, where he was responsible for integrating the service experience across channels. Prior to American Express, Walthall held senior leadership roles at USAA, including as senior vice president for channel management and head of deposit products.
Westlake Village Resident Files Suit Against Blue Shield and Cigna

The Westlake Village resident and his wife, Jane, are among the lead plaintiffs in one of two lawsuits against insurance companies announced by the Consumer Watchdog organization. The suits against Blue Shield and Cigna allege that the insurers played bait and switch with customers in individual and family plans by telling them doctors and hospitals were covered in network when they were not. Consumer advocates said the insurers were trying to boost their membership during the six-month open enrollment triggered by the Affordable Care Act.
