B. Braun Medical Inc. Key Developments

B. Braun Medical Inc. Announces Interoperability Collaboration with Omnicell, Inc

B. Braun Medical Inc. and Omnicell, Inc. announced they are working together to increase system interoperability to help decrease the time and clinical support needed to manage IV Infusions and IV compounding. This first level of integration allows for data, dashboards and predictive insights from B. Braun's real-time DoseTrac(r) Infusion Management Software to be viewed in the Omnicell Performance Center -- reducing the number of steps needed to see and manage clinical information. This is accomplished via a hyperlink in the Performance Center. The integration will help pharmacies plan for IV preparation and eliminate manual compilation of IV pump data, a time consuming process. The overall goal of the collaboration between B. Braun and Omnicell is to increase system interoperability to help decrease the amount of time and clinical support needed to manage IV infusions for joint customers.

B. Braun Launches Prontosan(R) Wound Gel X

B. Braun Medical Inc. announced the launch of Prontosan® Wound Gel X. It is the only wound gel available on the market that contains Betaine (surfactant) -- a surface-active cleanser that provides immediate debridement (process of removing dead tissue from wounds) and Polyhexanide (PHMB) -- which inhibits the growth of microorganisms within the product. Prontosan Wound Gel X is used for maintaining a clean and moist wound environment that is conducive to healing. Prontosan Wound Gel X is an effective microbial barrier and it resists microbial colonization within the dressing. It also reduces microbial penetration through the dressing and softens necrotic tissue facilitating autolytic debridement. In addition to the management of first and second-degree burns, Prontosan Wound Gel X is also indicated for ulcers (including diabetic foot, leg ulcers, and pressure ulcers), partial and full thickness wounds, large surface area wounds, and surgical incisions.

B. Braun Medical Inc. Launches New STEADYCare™ Extension Set with Wedge™ Catheter Stabilizer

B. Braun Medical Inc. announced that it has launched its new STEADYCare™ Extension Set with Wedge™ Catheter Stabilizer - developed to help improve stabilization and reduce catheter-related complications. STEADYCare was designed to minimize catheter movement in the vessel, maintain the catheter insertion angle, and reduce the patient connector's skin contact. Market data shows that approximately 90% of hospitalized patients require an IV catheter during their hospital stay, while 35% to 50% of catheters fail during therapy. Failures and unscheduled restarts are caused by catheter-related complications such as infection, phlebitis, hematoma, thrombosis and occlusion. Movement of the catheter may contribute to these complications. STEADYCare was recently unveiled at this year's Association for Vascular Access (AVA) Annual Scientific Meeting and the product is now available for sale.
