Opel Receives 50,000 Orders for New Insignia

Opel has announced that it has received 50,000 orders for its Insignia Grand Sport hatchback and Sports Tourer estate since its order book opened in mid-February. It added that of those ordered, 86% include its Navi 900 IntelliLink navigation system, 70% ergonomic seats and 63% the IntelliLux LED matrix headlights.

Opel Launches Insignia GSi Performance Variant

Opel has launched the high-performance variant of its new Insignia which will be known as the Insignia GSi. The chassis has received special attention with the springs shorter by 10mm in travel in comparison to the standard car, and they work in conjunction with special shock absorbers to improve body control during high-speed driving. The GSi is also fitted with mechatronic FlexRide chassis as standard which adapts shock absorbers and steering inputs instantaneously. The model is also equipped with powerful Brembo brakes, with a 345mm disc diameter, which are fitted in conjunction with 20-inch wheels. The model is powered by a four-cylinder 2.0-litre turbocharged gasoline (petrol) powertrain that develops 260 bhp and 400 Nm of torque, with the unit being mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The model can achieve an NEDC combined fuel consumption of 11.2 litres per 100 km and emits 197 g/km CO2.

Adam Opel GmbH Announces Management Changes

Adam Opel GmbH said in a statement that Karl-Thomas Neumann would leave his post as CEO of General Motors' Opel subsidiary immediately. He will remain a member of top Opel management until the sale to PSA Group goes through. Neumann was replaced by chief financial officer Michael Lohscheller.
