Opel Launches Karl Rocks at 2016 Paris Auto Show

Opel has launched a more rugged version of the Karl city car called Karl Rocks at the 2016 Paris Auto Show. The model is closely related to the Chevrolet Spark. It features an increase in ground clearance, black plastic cladding over the rocker panels and the wheel arches, and faux brushed aluminium. It is equipped with a turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine that delivers 75bhp to the front wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. The vehicle is to arrive at European dealerships before the end of 2016.

Opel Plans to Develop OPC-Badged Version of New Astra

Opel is planning to develop a sport-focused OPC-badged version of the new Astra hatchback. The vehicle is to be equipped with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine modified to generate 300bhp and with a choice of a manual and an automatic transmission, but front-wheel drive will be the only configuration available. It will be available as a four door hatchback. German magazine, Auto Bild, believes a station wagon variant aimed at families will be added later in the production run. Both models feature OPC-specific bumpers at both ends, large alloy wheels, side skirts, and an air diffuser at the rear.
