6WIND and Cavium Extend Partnership to Deliver Compelling High Performance Solutions for NFV and SDN
Apr 1 14
6WIND, and Cavium, Inc. announced an extension of their partnership to deliver joint network functions virtualization (NFV) and software-defined networking (SDN) solutions. This joint solution of 6WINDGate(TM) packet processing software and Cavium processors will help customers to migrate to next generation NFV and SDN architectures seamlessly. The combination of 6WINDGate software and Cavium processors is a proven solution deployed and currently designed-in by tier-1 OEMs worldwide for high performance applications in wired/wireless infrastructure, enterprises and data centers. 6WIND and Cavium's extended partnership includes 6WINDGate support for the Cavium solutions such as LiquidIO and NITROX adaptors as well as OCTEON and Thunder multi-core SoCs to deliver the single high performance data path required to seamlessly and cost effectively transition to virtualized and software-based NFV and SDN architectures. CAVIUM LiquidIO Intelligent Network Adaptors: 6WIND and Cavium have established a strategic development partnership to leverage 6WINDGate's common data path offload from x86 to LiquidIO using the Intel(R) DPDK (Data Plane Development Kit) API to significantly increase application performance. The same software can be deployed across multiple ISA based host server platforms. LiquidIO adaptors efficiently offload virtual switching and additional functionality such as security and deep packet inspection (DPI) functionality. 6WINDGate will enable smart NIC offloading while sustaining line rate traffic loads. CAVIUM OCTEON III and Thunder ARMv8 64-bit System on a Chip (SoC) Processors: 6WIND and Cavium will deliver joint technology to power leading edge multicore SoC packet processors by providing 6WINDGate on Cavium SoC platforms to enable complete NFV and SDN solutions. Cavium's optimized multicore processors integrate hardware accelerators for application processing and virtualization functionality, resulting in high throughput line rates for virtualized applications. CAVIUM NITROX Security Processors: 6WINDGate integrates NITROX security adaptors to be used as a cryptography offload and acceleration option with DPDK (Data Plane Development Kit) software, providing a ready to use fast path IPsec networking stack for x86 servers without the need to modify existing Linux applications.
6WIND S.A. and ALTEN Group Announce Partnership to Provide NFV and SDN Solutions
Apr 29 13
6WIND S.A. and ALTEN Group announced a partnership to deliver best-in-class Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) solutions to network equipment manufacturers (NEMs) and telecom operators worldwide. Through this partnership, the ALTEN group will offer technology consulting and implementation services around the 6WINDGate(TM) networking software to NEMs and telecom operators working to virtualize network functions as part of an SDN-based architecture. NFV has emerged as a key approach to maximize network resource utilization by virtualizing functions traditionally implemented in dedicated hardware, thereby minimizing both CAPEX and OPEX. Operators are increasingly adopting SDN-based network architectures in order to improve network manageability and accelerate the deployment of new services.
Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. and 6WIND S.A. Announce 40 Gigabit Ethernet Packet Processing Solution for Telecom Data Centers
Feb 25 13
Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. and 6WIND S.A. announced a performance-optimized solution featuring the Mellanox ConnectX-3 Network Interface Controller (NIC) together with the 6WINDGate(TM) networking software. Combined with Mellanox's SwitchX 40GbE switch, software, and cables, the complete solution enables Telecom Equipment Manufacturers (TEMs) and operators to accelerate the deployment of virtualized and non-virtualized networks and software defined networking (SDN) on standard high-volume servers. Together, Mellanox and 6WIND are the first to provide a comprehensive end-to-end 40GbE interconnect solution for telecom data centers, delivering end users the high bandwidth, performance and efficiency currently available in the market. Mellanox's ConnectX-3 is the NIC of choice for 40GbE server and embedded platforms. The Mellanox ConnectX-3 PMD, pre-integrated within 6WIND's enhanced Intel(R) DPDK library as well as within the 6WINDGate software, will be available in the second quarter of 2013.
