Baker Furniture Appoints Russell Towner as President

Baker Furniture announced it has named Russell Towner as president, a role he began in mid-March. Towner comes to the company from Theodore Alexander, where he served as president of the USA division until late last year. He also has worked in various executive roles at Henredon and Taracea Furniture. The company said in these previous roles, he set strategic and financial planning and drove new product development processes, from design to delivery. Austin Rothbard, who was president of Baker Furniture from 2012 to 2015, is currently North American president of household and new product development for World Kitchen LLC. In his new role, Towner will be responsible for all aspects of Baker s furniture business, including overall P&L performance and growth, and also will establish and oversee Baker's strategic goals. He also will oversee sales, finance, showroom and store presentation as well as new product development and operations. In his new role, he reports to Thomas Penner, group president of Kohler Co. Interiors. Baker is a division of Kohler Co. Interiors, and Penner had been acting Baker president before Towner's appointment. Russell s candidacy for this role was enhanced by his strong marketing and sales background. He has a depth of understanding in luxury furniture development, portfolio optimization, customer programs and managing brand communications.
