Flinders University Joins BAE Systems' National Innovation Network

Flinders University has become a member of BAE Systems Australia’s Joint Open Innovation Network (JOIN), a national initiative to drive research, development and innovation of defence technologies. Flinders involvement means the three key South Australian universities are network members, supporting new tertiary engineering scholarships, internships and undergraduate industry placements. BAE Systems Australia has committed to contributing up to $10 million to the initiative that will also involve the creation of new defence-focused courses and targeted research and development. The Joint Open Innovation Network will focus on activities to support the upgrade of the Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) and the development of future JORN and intelligence surveillance reconnaissance capability. It also aims to support industry with the establishment an Innovation laboratory that will provide a secure facility to allow greater collaboration to develop new or improve existing defence technologies.
BAE Systems Australia to Partner with Marand for the Royal Australian Army's Land 400 Phase II Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle Programme

BAE Systems Australia has agreed to partner with Marand for the Royal Australian Army's Land 400 Phase II combat reconnaissance vehicle programme. Under the teaming agreement, Marand will provide cross-sector expertise and a range of engineering services for the army's AMV35 combat reconnaissance vehicles. The BAE-Patria team will manufacture the AMV35 locally with an industry solution that is anticipated to increase local manufacturing knowledge, create jobs and bring further economic benefits to the Australian SME supply chain, BAE Systems stated. The LAND 400 programme is aimed at improving the mounted close combat capability of Australia's Land Force. The programme will provide armoured fighting vehicles with improved firepower, protection, mobility and digital communications to enable tactical success in current and future operational environments. In addition to combat reconnaissance vehicle, LAND 400 will deliver an infantry fighting vehicle, a manoeuvre support vehicle and an integrated training system. BAE Systems Australia Wins Initial Sustainment Contract for RAN's New Air Warfare Destroyers

BAE Systems Australia has won an initial sustainment contract for the Royal Australian Navy's (RAN) new air warfare destroyers (AWDs). The 5-year, $70 million contract will see BAE Systems serving as the managing contractor and cooperating with the Australian Department of Defence to engage local firms. The firms will then be offered contracts to provide maintenance and support for the AWDs after they are commissioned into service.
