Brittany Ferries to Launch New Lounge on Barfleur

Brittany Ferries has announced that it will launch a new lounge on Barfleur, its cruise-ferry operating from Poole to Cherbourg from July 1, 2017. It will open from 1 July 2017, and customers can book a reclining seat now for GBP18 during the daytime and GBP 25 for overnight sailings. The new 20-seat Barfleur Club Lounge promises a more premium travel experience. Accessed by boarding card, it will include USB charging points, newspapers, complimentary tea, coffee and cold drinks, as well as a sleep kit for overnight crossings. The company says the Barfleur Club Lounge is further evidence of ongoing investment in its fleet and route network.

Brittany Ferries has confirmed that Christophe Mathieu is to be its new chief executive. The 47-year-old will succeed Martine Jourdren at the end of March 2016. He will continue in his role as strategy and commercial director until Mme Jourdren steps down, following her 42 years' service with Brittany Ferries.

Brittany Ferries announced the appointment of Nigel Wonnacott (46) as its new head of communications. Nigel will take the reins from Stephen Tuckwell who retires in December after 10 years leading communications for the company. Nigel began his career as press officer and company spokesperson for Brighton Ferries, a fast-ferry start-up which ran to Fecamp, Normandy in 1995. Since then he has gained extensive experience in transport journalism and public relations, including spells heading communications for motor industry trade body, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) and with Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in Goodwood.
