Oasys Water Announces Major Advancement in its ClearFloTM Technology Platform

Oasys Water announced a major advancement in its ClearFloTM technology platform. The Oasys ClearFlo MBCx is the result of more than two years of groundbreaking R&D in membrane and system design. Together, they provide a significant expansion in the range of applications and solution performance that Oasys' technology provides. The ClearFlo MBCx platform dramatically extends the capabilities of the company's forward osmosis based system by increasing system flux by more than 100%, while integrating a sophisticated controls capability to provide far greater system flexibility and performance, to aggressively driving down system life cycle costs. The MBCx makes high recovery brine concentration and ZLD viable for new applications, such as extending fresh water production from seawater desalination plants where intake expansion is not feasible or where environmental pressures on brine discharge are growing. In Oasys’ current applications, the MBCx greatly expands the economic value to customers. For example, in the Oil & Gas industry where the total cost to treat produced water applications can now be reduced below $2 per barrel, which is competitive with transport and injection well disposal in most cases, the MBCx expands opportunities in this market just as Oil & Gas begins a long awaited recovery. In addition to extending the performance envelope for high salinity brine concentration, Oasys has adapted the MBCx to handle high recovery, water reuse for wastewater streams in the brackish water range of 5,000 to 25,000 mg/L of total dissolved solids (TDS). MBCx systems optimized for brackish streams provide recovery of 90% or greater from sources such as cooling tower blowdown, food and beverage production wastewaters, electronics wastewaters, and other sources, which until now have been limited to treatment with high pressure RO at recovery levels of 70% or less. The MBCx dramatically reduces wastewater volumes for discharge to evaporation ponds, to publicly operated treatment works (POTWs), or for final treatment in zero liquid discharge (ZLD) scenarios. Oasys will begin delivering MBCx systems to its partners and customers starting in early 2017 following completion of an active pilot testing program across a variety of wastewaters and applications. The innovative MBCx platform arrives as Oasys continues to aggressively expand its commercial efforts beyond China and the Oil & Gas industry, where its technology was initially commercialized beginning in 2014.
Zhongtian Hechuang Energy Company Limited Selects Oasys Water and Beijing Woteer Water Technology Co., Ltd. to Provide Zero Liquid Discharge Water Treatment Plant for Process Effluent Streams

Oasys Water announced that the company is actively deploying three new industrial wastewater treatment projects in China and is expanding its Asian operational infrastructure to support growth in the region. These new projects include a massive commercial project at Zhongtian Hechuang Energy Company Limited. Oasys and its Chinese partner, Beijing Woteer Water Technology Co., Ltd. (Woteer), were selected to provide a Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) water treatment plant for process effluent streams at the $3.1 billion coal-based methanol petrochemical plant under construction near Ordos, located in China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Woteer will provide a ZLD water treatment system, featuring Oasys' forward osmosis (FO) technology, to transform 3,200 m3/day of process wastewater at the CTO complex. At five times the capacity of Oasys’ initial commercial project in China at the Changxing Power Plant, this new deployment will utilize two of Oasys’ Membrane Brine Concentrator (MBC) systems in parallel, to transform high salinity process wastewater into fresh water to be recycled in the plant’s production process. The massive ZLD water treatment system will include the MBC systems and Polishing RO from Oasys along with pretreatment and crystallizer systems provided by Woteer.
Oasys and Woteer are also in the final stages of commissioning a ZLD project for treatment of combined power plant wastewater streams of 1,200 m3/day at the Yangmei Taihua CTO complex in Shanxi province, where Woteer will be the owner and operator of the plant - another important first for the Oasys and Woteer partnership. Both the Yangmei Taihua and Zhongtian projects feature process flows similar to Changxing Power Plant, with pretreated wastewater concentrated to 220,000 mg/L TDS or higher in the MBC prior to brine crystallization. Finally, Woteer was recently awarded a third project featuring Oasys FO-based MBC technology, for treatment of flue gas desulfurization (FGD) wastewater to ZLD at Shanxi Lujin Electric Power’s Wangqu Thermal Power Station, a coal-fired power plant in China’s Shanxi province. This plant will utilize an MBC system for brine concentration of a 370 m3/day stream to 240,000 mg/L for combination of the effluent brine with a flyash byproduct. The system design for Wangqu follows the award-winning process design from Changxing, further setting the standard for China and global power market ZLD solutions.
Oasys Water, Inc. Opens New Office in Dubai; Appoints Sada Krishnan as Director of Middle Eastern Business Development and General Manager for its Dubai Office

Oasys Water announced that it has opened an office in Dubai to support business opportunities in the Middle East and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. Additionally, Oasys Water has reassigned Sada Krishnan, who was previously managing projects in Australia, to Dubai to lead these efforts at a time when conventional and unconventional oil and gas recovery, power generation and inland desalination projects are rapidly growing in the water stressed region.
A 20-plus year veteran of the water industry and one of Oasys’ early commercial leaders, Sada Krishnan has been appointed Director of Middle Eastern Business Development and General Manager for the company’s Dubai office. In this role, Krishnan will be tasked with expanding Oasys Water’s presence in the Middle East and enabling the company to support the unique water treatment needs in the region. Krishnan joined Oasys in 2014 to lead the company’s Australian entity, Oasys Water Australia, Pty.
