Jamie Oliver Limited Key Developments

Jamie Oliver to Close Six Jamie's Italian Restaurants in the First Quarter of 2017; Announces Expansion Plans for the Year 2017

Jamie Oliver is to close six Jamie's Italian restaurants as the celebrity chef is hit by a combination of rising Brexit cost pressures and tough trading. The closures will impact 120 staff, although the company will attempt to place those affected in other parts of Oliver's restaurant empire. Restaurants in Aberdeen, Cheltenham, Exeter, Ludgate, Richmond (both in London) and Tunbridge Wells are all scheduled to close in the first quarter. The group announced that it will now focus on the 'core Jamie's Italian estate' and on the expansion of the Barbecoa brand, which will see two new openings in 2017.

Jamie Eyeing Keystone’s Assets

Keystone Group Holdings Pty Limited may sell an asset. Jamie Oliver Limited is set to buy back his Italian restaurants business in Australia. Keystone collapsed and put the franchise up for sale. Morgan Kelly from Ferrier Hodgson has confirmed that Jamie Oliver Group was the preferred bidder for the six restaurants, located in Sydney, Perth, Canberra, Brisbane and Adelaide. Morgan Kelly said, “Jamie Oliver taking control over the restaurants is an exciting outcome for the restaurant staff and patrons," he said. "The Australian Jamie's Italian franchises can now go from strength to strength under the direct management of the Jamie Oliver Group.”

Jamie Oliver For Sale

Jamie Oliver Limited is seeking to sell few of its outlets in Australia. The company is now working to find a partner for the business in Australia. "This may be part of a whole of enterprise sale or as a separate portfolio."
