J Tomlinson has appointed Richard Ball as the head of the company’s growing safety, health, environment and quality team. The move brings all the firm’s health, safety and compliance operations in-house for the first time and is designed to support the company’s expansion. An ex-serviceman who spent 22 years in the Corps of Royal Engineers, rising to higher attainable position of Regimental Sergeant Major as a non-commissioned officer, Richard is based at J Tomlinson’s Nottingham head office but will spend time in the West Midlands office in Canwell, as well as at sites across the East Midlands, West Midlands and Yorkshire. Richard’s department is responsible for standardising quality control of the procedures, policies and compliance across the business, with particular focus on health and safety, environmental, and technical compliance such as gas or electrical installations and maintenance.

J. Tomlinson Ltd. won a multiple awardees contract award from Re:allies Works Ltd. to service, maintain and repair gas installations. The lowest offer is GBP 1 and the highest offer is GBP 126 million (excluding VAT). Re:allies has procured and entered into a framework agreement with multiple contractors for the gas servicing, maintenance and repair of existing installations. The service required within the framework will be a standard 3 comprehensive service and maintenance provision to gas fired central heating installations and miscellaneous gas appliances. The framework may, if required by the customer, also include the requirement to replace installations. Contractors will, where requested, be required to source non-consumable materials from framework agreements and contracts that have already been established by Re:allies. Contractors who have been appointed to the framework agreement will also be required to meet minimum training and employment targets that are linked to the services awarded via the framework agreement. The framework agreement will allow contracting authorities named and referred to within the contract notice to enter into underlying contracts for the completion of the works and services covered by the framework agreement. The framework agreement will be in place for a period of 48 months and will not be extended beyond this term. Contracts that are called off under the framework agreement may (where required) continue beyond the 48 month term of the framework agreement. Individual contracting authorities entitled to access the framework agreement will have the option to agree and award underlying contracts to the appointed contractors at any stage during the term of the framework agreement.
