Meeting Professionals International Inc. Announces Board Changes

Meeting Professionals International (MPI) announced the confirmed slate of volunteer leaders for its 2016 Board of Directors. Board member and officer selections are effective January 1, 2016, for the term of January 1 through December 31, 2016. Fiona Pelham, managing director of Sustainable Events Ltd. and Positive Impact, will assume the role of chair of the MPI Board of Directors. Pelham has been an active MPI member for ten years and previously served as president of the association's United Kingdom and Ireland Chapter. Meeting Professionals International Appoints Michael Woody as Chief Operations Officer

Meeting Professionals International has announced the selection of industry veteran Michael Woody as its new chief operations officer. In this role, Woody will lead the daily operations and marketing efforts of the association, ensuring the delivery of community-wide member value and brand consistency. He will officially begin the role on March 23, 2015, reporting to MPI president and CEO Paul Van Deventer. Woody has more than 27 years of experience in the meeting and event, hospitality and tourism industries and is a current, active member of MPI. As COO, he will be responsible for the development and implementation of tactical business plans as well as management of MPI's events, professional development, chapter business, marketing, communications, and European operations teams. In his current role, Woody serves as the assistant executive director for the Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Meeting Professionals International Appoints Darren Temple as Chief Business Development Officer, Effective Mid-September 2014

Meeting Professionals International has announced the selection of Darren Temple as its new chief business development officer. In this role, Temple will lead strategic business development and global sales planning for the association. He will officially begin the role in mid-September 2014, reporting to MPI president and CEO Paul Van Deventer. Temple has 25 years of both domestic and international experience in the meeting and event industry and joins MPI from the Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau where he most recently served as chief sales officer. He will be responsible for strengthening MPI's relationships with industry organizations and strategic partners such as destination management organizations (DMOs), hoteliers and global suppliers. In addition, Temple will develop global sales strategies for MPI and the MPI Foundation as well as oversee MPI's sales and sales operations teams. Previously, Temple worked as a senior sales executive for both PSAV Presentation Services and Freeman.
