The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) announced the results of its 2014 Board of Directors election. The newly elected board members, who will begin their terms of office on May 1, are: Vice President-Elect, Finance- Laura McGill, Raytheon Corporation; Vice President-Elect, International Activities- John Evans, Lockheed Martin Corporation; Vice President-Elect, Publications- Frank Lu, University of Texas at Arlington; Vice President-Elect, Standards- Allen Arrington, Sierra Lobo Inc.; Director - Technical, Aircraft and Atmospheric Systems Group- Dimitri Mavris, Georgia Institute of Technology; Director - Technical, Engineering and Technology Management Group- Nancy Andersen, G & N Corporation; Director - Technical, Space and Missiles Groups- Peter Montgomery, Jacobs Engineering; Director - Region 1- Ferdinand Grosveld, Northrop Grumman Corporation; Director - At-Large, International- Scott Eberhardt, Aerospace Consultant; and Director - At-Large- Basil Hassan, Sandia National Laboratories.

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering Sign on Cooperative Agreement

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering signed a memorandum of understanding as part of the 2014 AIAA Science and Technology Forum and Exposition (SciTech Forum), January 13-17 at the Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center. Jim Albaugh, executive vice president, The Boeing Company, president and chief executive officer, Boeing Commercial Airplanes (ret.) and AIAA president-elect and Professor Leonardo Alves, finance director and secretary of the ABCM's Aerospace Technical Committee, signed the MOU. The MOU calls for cooperation between AIAA and ABCM on a wide range of activities, including cosponsoring and promoting the activities of the other organization to one's own members; co publishing information of mutual interest; collaborating on student activities, professional development, technical lectures, training, and related activities; organizing official visits between the organizations; and cooperating on issues of importance to the international aerospace community and its member organizations. The MOU with ABCM is part of AIAA's focus on global outreach and international cooperation. AIAA also has MOUs with aerospace societies in Argentina, Britain, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, and South Korea, as well as with the Council of European Aerospace Societies.
