The Virtual Power Purchase Agreement is Kimberly-Clark first use of utility-scale renewable energy and will help Kimberly-Clark to surpass its 2022 commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20% four years ahead of schedule.

EDF Renewable Energy announced the acquisition of 179 MW of solar projects in Nevada's Clark County from First Solar Inc. for an undisclosed amount. The Switch Station 1 and Switch Station 2 plants are currently under construction on land managed by the US Bureau of Land Management. They will be equipped with First Solar photovoltaic modules and horizontal single-axis tracking systems. Commercial activities for the two facilities are slated to begin at the end of July and September, respectively. Once up and running, the solar parks will be able to generate enough power to meet the electricity consumption of about 46,000 local households and offset over 265,000 tonne of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year. Their output and environmental attributes will be sold to US utility NV Energy under three power purchase agreements.
EDF Renewable Energy Confirms Turbine Order with Vestas for Copenhagen Wind Project

EDF Renewable Energy has confirmed the order with Vestas Wind Systems A/S to supply V110-2.0 MW wind turbines for the 80 megawatt (MW) Copenhagen Wind Project (Project). In addition, the Company announced that Renewable Energy Systems (RES) was awarded the balance of plant construction contract. With these two milestones in place, the Project is ready to commence construction in August 2017 with commercial operation date (COD) anticipated for November 2018. Located in Lewis and Jefferson counties in upstate New York, the Project benefits from a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement with Narragansett Electric Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of National Grid. Own Energy (acquired by EDF RE in 2015) developed the project under a local partnership model enabling stakeholders to profit from the wind projects success. Copenhagen Wind will support approximately 120 construction jobs and six long-term operations and maintenance jobs.
