Tailor Welded Blanking Joint Venture Announces New Kentucky Facility

Worthington Industries announced that its tailor welded blanking joint venture, TWB Company, LLC, is opening a new facility in Glasgow, Ky. The company plans to sublease 12,000-square-feet of space from Fortis Manufacturing. The facility is expected to begin production by the end of the first quarter of 2016. The Kentucky TWB facility will laser weld different types of high strength grade steel to create material used for heavy duty truck rail assemblies that is stronger and lighter with improved crash performance. The material will be stamped and assembled at a Tier 1 supplier before being used in Ford F-250 and F-350 pickup trucks.

TWB Company, LLC Opens New Facility in Nashville, Tennessee

Worthington Industries announced that its tailor welded blanking joint venture, TWB Company, LLC is opening a new facility in Nashville, Tennessee. The new facility will include next generation fiber lasers and curvilinear welding technology, expanding TWB's 2D welding capabilities and its ability to reduce weight and increase strength of more parts of a vehicle. The 120,000 square foot Nashville, Tennessee, facility will have approximately 45 employees, and will initially serve General Motors, Nissan and several Tier 1 automotive suppliers. Production is expected to begin by October 2015. The new facility is TWB's 9th in North America; additional locations include Alabama, Michigan, Smyrna, Tennessee, Ontario and four in Mexico.
