HVE ConneXions Wins VDI Deployment Contract with University of North Alabama
Jul 13 17
Sphere 3D Corp. announced that its HVE ConneXions has been awarded a contract with the University of North Alabama (UNA) to deploy next-generation desktop virtualization solutions. UNA’s technology staff went through an eight-month process to evaluate multiple vendors, and ultimately chose HVE ConneXions as it provides the most robust, cost effective and proven solution to meet their requirements. Howard Technologies, a partner for over three years, presented to UNA both the HVE technology and an overall architecture that included leading edge technology integrated with HVE’s VDI appliances to support their overall desktop virtualization footprint. UNA implemented two HVE-202-Ds (Datrium Ready VDI Nodes for 200 Users) and two HVE-3DGFX vGPU VDI appliances, coupled with an OpenConverged Datrium DVX NetShelf solution. This architecture will allow the UNA virtualization environment to scale from a few hundred to thousands of sessions while maintaining a predictable cost model and increase performance as the consumption grows. HVE’s turnkey solution was implemented, and training completed, within a week at UNA. Also, as part of the solution, HVE and Datrium are providing 24x7 proactive monitoring and support, which is a unique offering when compared to other providers, and an additional deciding factor for UNA.
Sphere 3D Corp.’s HVE/UCX ConneXions Wins Data Center Infrastructure Deployment Contract Valued at over $500,000
Jun 29 17
Sphere 3D Corp. announced that its professional services group, led by the UCX team, has been awarded a contract valued at over $500,000 to support technology initiatives for a School District (SD) in Oklahoma. The contract includes a network software management suite which will enable the district to improve Operations and Maintenance (O&M) efficiency, reduce costs, optimize resource utilization, and ensure responsive, high-availability systems. This complete infrastructure upgrade actively promotes a robust Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy for all students, and will help ensure successful operations for students and faculty as the district implements its digital transformation initiatives. Installation is expected to be completed during the summer months before students return to campuses. Unified ConneXions (UCX) along with its sister company, HVE ConneXions (HVE) were acquired by Sphere 3D in January of this year.
Biloxi Public School District Selects HVE ConneXions for Desktop Virtualization
Jan 31 17
Sphere 3D Corp. announced that Biloxi Public Schools (BPS) has selected HVE ConneXions (HVE) Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) technology for their classroom VDI environment expansion through authorized reseller, Howard Technologies. Academic institutions of all sizes are tasked with balancing their budgetary constraints with the need to provide students and faculty the tools they need for success. As such, educational institutions and school districts are taking the lead in accessing the latest technologies to support the digital transformation of their classrooms. Investments in the right virtualization strategy are effectively providing on-demand learning services to students, faculty and staff across infrastructures of all shapes and sizes, culminating in a more efficient school day for teachers and students. BPS has already embraced the value of the digital classroom and was already well on its way with an existing VDI footprint of three HVE-101-N appliances that supported 300 current users. This latest project expanded their environment from 300 to 900 concurrent users and provided VDI for several general-purpose labs, two advanced STEM Labs, and several classrooms. Howard Technologies responded to the BPS Desktop Virtualization expansion Request for Proposal (RFP), and the solution was delivered and installed within two weeks of the close of the order to meet the requirements of BPS’s 2017 technology initiatives. This expansion helped BPS provide technology to their educational environment, enhanced their state mandated online testing, and expanded the capabilities of their STEM program.
