Siemens Corporation Begins Work on the Second Phase of a 10-Year Energy Performance Contract with UMass Memorial Health Care

Siemens Corporation has announced that it has begun work on the second phase of a 10-year energy performance contract with UMass Memorial Health Care (UMass Memorial), designed to align with the health care system’s master energy plan to reduce energy consumption and energy purchasing costs, while maximizing the use of renewable energy wherever possible. With Phase 2 underway, UMass Memorial is projected to save almost 2 million kilowatt hours of electric energy in the project’s first year, and over the course of the 10-year contract, it is anticipated to generate $5 million in energy savings and operational cost savings. When combined with UMass Memorial’s Phase 1 contract with Siemens as well as other efforts, it is anticipated that the facility will generate a total savings in energy and operational costs of approximately $24 million over the next 10 years.

UMass Memorial Health Care, Inc. is discussing a possible merger with HealthAlliance Hospitals, Inc. Doug Brown, President of community hospitals and chief administrative officer for UMass Memorial Health Care said "They are in the same system and as a system we strive to provide the same high quality care across them. It's not going to feel much different for patients. But if gives us an opportunity to focus on growing in that region and providing even higher service to patients."
UMass Memorial Health Care Promotes Nicole Gagne to President of UMass Memorial – Community Healthlink

UMass Memorial Health Care announced that it has elevated Nicole Gagne, from interim president to president of UMass Memorial – Community Healthlink. Gagne began serving as the interim president of Community Healthlink in January after longtime president and CEO Deborah Ekstrom retired at the end of 2015. A member of the UMass Memorial Health Care system, Community Healthlink helps adults, children and families to recover from the effects of mental illness, substance abuse and homelessness. Immediately before stepping into this role, Gagne served as executive vice president and prior to that, as a vice president responsible for Community Healthlink’s homeless, addiction and primary care services. Before joining Community Healthlink, Nicole was the executive director of North Central Human Services in Gardner and has held various other executive management positions in agencies around the country.
