CLP India Appoints Sudipta Ghosh as New General Counsel

CLP India has announced the appointment of Sudipta Ghosh as their new General Counsel, replacing Nabeel Saleem, who had left CLP to join Monsanto India as Legal Head. Ghosh brings to the role more than 14 years of experience and has joined CLP India in 2009 as Legal Counsel. In her new role, Sudipta will advise the Company on a number of legal aspects of the business such as litigation, project financing, new project development among others. Earlier, Sudipta was with Trilegal and Amarchand Mangaldas (now Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas).

CLP India Plans For Acquisitions

CLP Power India Private Limited is planning for acquisition. The company's managing director Rajiv Mishra said, we have plans to beef up its solar power portfolio through greenfield projects, acquisitions and tie ups with big corporate houses to help them fulfill their renewable power purchase obligation.

CLP India and Suzlon Energy Ltd. Enter into Joint Venture for the Veltoor Solar Project in Telangana

CLP India and Suzlon Group announced their joint venture for a 100 MW solar project at Veltoor in Telangana. As per the agreement signed between CLP India and Suzlon Group on June 14, 2016, CLP India acquired 49% stake in SE Solar, a special purpose vehicle set-up by Suzlon. CLP India has the option to acquire the balance 51% in future. The project is expected to be commissioned by May 2017 and will be funded 80% by debt and 20% by equity. India is a primary growth market for CLP and the veltoor solar project will make an important contribution to CLP’s expansion plan. Besides, it will aid CLP to meet its target of having 20% of power generated by renewable energy by 2020.
