Aditya Birla Telecom Limited Key Developments

Axiata Reportedly To Sell Stake In Idea

Axiata Group Berhad (KLSE:AXIATA) is seeking to sell its 20% stake in Idea Cellular Limited (NSEI:IDEA) as it believes that Idea's valuation will remain subdued for at least the next three years given the likelihood of a pricing onslaught stemming from the entry of Reliance Jio Infocomm, said three people familiar with the plan. Axiata is said to have informally asked investment bankers to seek buyers for the stake and has also passed a Board resolution to sell its stake in Idea, said one person, although that couldn't be independently verified by Economic Times. Aditya Birla Telecom Limited owns 42% of Idea while the rest is held by institutional and retail investors.

Idea Cellular Reportedly Seeks To Sell Stake In ICISL And Indus Towers

Idea Cellular Ltd. (NSEI:IDEA) is looking to divest a 49% stake in Idea Cellular Infrastructure Services Ltd (ICISL) and its entire holding in Indus Towers Ltd. The company has mandated Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BAML) to help in bringing in a new financial investor, said multiple sources aware of the ongoing discussions. Sources add a handful of global buyout funds, sovereign wealth funds and long-only pension funds have already been sounded out. Alternatively, sources add Birla may merge ICISL into Aditya Birla Telecom Limited to create a single entity that will hold 100% of Idea’s captive towers and 16% of Indus and then dilute a 49% stake to financial sponsors in that combo.

Idea Reporetdly Seeks To Acquire Stake In Aditya Birla Telecom

Idea Cellular Ltd. (NSEI:IDEA) offered INR 40 billion to buy out Providence Equity Partners LLC's 16% stake in Aditya Birla Telecom Limited, offering more than 40% premium to the US private equity firm's investment, according to media reports.
