Florida Gas Transmission Co. LLC Receives Authorization from FERC to Build and Operate Natural Gas Pipeline Facilities in Florida

Florida Gas Transmission Co. LLC received authorization from FERC to build and operate natural gas pipeline facilities in Florida to serve the utility Peoples Gas System. FGT told FERC it needs the project to provide firm transportation of 15,000 MMBtu/d at 800 pounds per square inch gage to the SeaCoast and Brandy Branch delivery points on the Jacksonville lateral. FGT entered into a precedent agreement for firm transportation service in October 2014 with Peoples Gas, a division of Tampa Electric Co. Tampa Electric is a TECO Energy Inc. company. Before the project facilities are placed into service, FGT plans to provide up to 60,000 MMBtu/d of firm service and up to 30,000 MMBtu/d of firm seasonal service. When the facilities are in service, FGT will provide Peoples Gas with up to 75,000 MMBtu/day of firm service and up to 60,000 MMBtu/d of seasonal service. FGT told FERC the 60,000 MMBtu/d of firm service and the seasonal firm service can be provided without the project facilities. The Jacksonville expansion project is expected to cost approximately $46.5 million. The project will include the installation of approximately three miles of 30-inch-diameter loop pipeline and 5.7 miles of 20-inch-diameter loop pipeline, as well as pig launchers and receivers, mainline valves, a regulation station, and a new 5,000-horsepower compressor unit at Compressor Station 16. The construction and modification of facilities will occur in Suwannee, Columbia, Bradford and Clay counties in northern Florida. The application for the expansion project was submitted to FERC on March 31, 2015. The project cleared an environmental review when FERC's Office of Energy Projects staff issued a favorable environmental assessment on Jan. 15. (CP15-144).

Florida Gas Transmission Company Expands Natural Gas Capacity

Florida Gas Transmission Company, LLC has received authorization to commence service of the Pompano Compressor Station 21.5 Project from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). The $126 million natural gas pipeline project allows Florida Gas to deliver an additional 25,000 MMBTU per day in Broward County, Florida to Florida Power and Light Company. Florida Gas estimated that the Project would be in-service by August 1, 2015, suggesting that the Project was completed about one month early.
