AAEON Adds Extended Temperature Support to Wider Array of Embedded Boards Across All Form Factors and Platforms

AAEON announced that it is adding Extended Temperature support to a wider array of embedded boards across all form factors and platforms. The company's extended temperature support, also known as WiTAs, is divided into two categories that are determined by temperature range: WiTAS 1 for temperatures between -20 to 70°C and WiTAS 2 for -40 to 85°C. With the implementation of WiTAS, products are made to withstand harsher and more extreme environments. Products receiving the WiTAS 1 upgrade include the PICO-BT01 Pico-ITX board, the EPIC-CV07 EPIC board, the GENE-CV05 3.5" subcompact board, and the COM-QM77 COM Express module, while products such as the PFM-CVS PC/104+ module, GENE-BT05, and COM-CV are boosted with WiTAS 2 support. All of the mentioned products are cooled using passive thermal solutions. The upgrade is aimed squarely at products that are typically found in transports, factory floors, outdoors, military, and areas subjected to wide temperature fluctuations. In addition, the selection features matured platforms that are running stably and may not get replaced for years to come. The WiTAS upgrade is suitable for users who wish to protect their tried-and-true solutions.

AAEON Expanded I/O Functionality with BOXER-6914 Embedded Box PC. Intended for applications requiring high usage of I/O peripherals, BOXER-6914 offers up to 16 COM ports consisting of 14 RS-232 ports and 2 RS-232/422/485 ports. Ports are located on only one side of system to facilitate maintenance. Accepting variable 9â “30 V input, 3-pin DC input terminal block enables users to wire up multiple systems to control power from distant location. PC also includes 30 programmable digital I/O ports and internal PCIe slots for additional connectivity options. The BOXER-6914 offers as many as 16 COM ports consisting of 14 RS-232 ports and 2 RS-232/422/485 ports to allow a wide variety of I/O peripherals to be incorporated. The ports are located on only one side of the system so that maintenance is less cumbersome with simpler and more orderly wiring. The 3-pin DC input terminal block accepts a variable 9V to 30V input and makes it easy to wire up multiple systems to control the power from a distant location. With its high usability offered via the high I/O count and ease of maintenance, the system is ideally suited for static machines that require a multitude of functionalities with minimal servicing. Adding to its already high I/O count are 30 programmable digital I/O ports to provide even greater installation and control options. Internal PCIe slots allow for additional connectivity options such as WiFi with mounting holes for external antennas ready to be installed. Examples of typical applications are ticket vending machines and turnstiles in train stations, where functionalities such as IC card readers and VFD displays are some of the key requirements.

AAEON unveiled the upcoming GENE-BSW5 subcompact board and FWS-2260 network appliance, the company's first two offerings with the latest Intel® SoC lineup. Manufactured with the cutting-edge 14nm process, power consumption of both products has been further reduced to 6W, as compared to 10W of their predecessors which utilizes the previous generation SoCs. Support for greater memory speeds and I/Os are also incorporated in the new chips to introduce some of today's most wanted technological features to the mainstream market. The GENE-BSW5 3.5" subcompact board, successor to GENE-BT05, will be capable of handling 3 independent displays from the board's HDMI, VGA, and LVDS options with the chip's new graphical enhancements, improving upon the support for 2 displays of the older iteration. The chip's support for more I/O also helped the new board to sport 6 COMs, 4 USB 3.0 and 1 USB 2.0 ports. Also benefitting from the improved I/O support is the FWS-2260. Not only can more SATA and USB ports be incorporated, but the chip's improved memory support also allows faster RAM to be used. The SoCs also come with enhanced security features that make network appliances a much more safe and secure equipment in an IoT environment.
