Masdar Signs Major Contract for Wind Farm in Oman

Masdar signed an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract with a global consortium comprising GE and Spain’s TSK to build the Dhofar Wind Power Project, the first large-scale wind farm in Oman and the GCC. The Dhofar Wind Power Project is a result of the joint development agreement that was established in 2014 between Masdar and the Rural Areas Electricity Company (Raeco). The 50 megawatt (MW) wind farm takes its name from the southern Omani governorate bordering Yemen, and will electrify an estimated 16,000 homes and offset 110,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year.

Masdar Forms Joint Venture with Bee'h to Develop Biomass Power Plant in UAE

Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company Masdar formed joint venture with Bee'h - The Sharjah Environment Co. to construct and develop a waste-to-energy plant in Sharjah, UAE. The JV Company is known as Emirates Waste to Energy Company (EWEC). The facility will incinerate up to 37.5 tonnes of solid waste per hour to generate 30 MW of energy. Earlier, on January 18, 2017, Masdar formed partnership with Bee'h. This agreement enables Masdar and Bee'h to provide further waste-to-energy facilities in the UAE and the region, delivering commercial solutions to meet the challenge of solid waste disposal and the ever-growing demand for clean energy.

Bee'ah and Masdar to Establish Joint Venture Emirates Waste to Energy Company

Bee'ah and Masdar have formally established the joint venture Emirates Waste to Energy Company (EWEC) to develop waste-to-energy plants across the Middle East region. The around environmental challenges and ways of maintaining a pollution free environment, the first project will be the Sharjah Multi-Fuel Waste-to-Energy Facility. The plant will be the first in the region and will treat, within its first phase, more than 300,000 tonnes of municipal solid waste (MSW) each year and have a power capacity of around 30 megawatts (MW).
