Consumer Products Group Reports Earnings Results for the Third Quarter and Year to Date Ended June 30, 2015

Consumer Products Group reported earnings results for the third quarter and year to date ended June 30, 2015. For the quarter, the company's sales increased $5 million or 1% to $476 million due to a $20 million increase in sales of company's branded product, partially offset by a $14 million decline in private label and contract manufacturing. Operating income increased 50% to $62 million, primarily due to increased sales, better mix and reduced advertising due to company's focus on core brands. For the year-to-date, company's sales were up slightly as branded growth overcame the declines in private label and contract manufacturing. Operating income increased 6% to $152 million, driven by improved branded sales and reduced advertising expense.
