NBTY, Inc. Announces Earnings Results for the Second Quarter and First Half of Fiscal Year 2015

NBTY, Inc. announced earnings results for the second quarter and first half of fiscal year 2015. The company delivered sales and consolidated EBITDA growth of just over 1% and 16%, respectively. On a constant currency basis, sales and consolidated EBITDA grew 5% and 22%, respectively. Second quarter sales increased 1% to $788 million or 5% on a constant currency basis. The consolidated EBITDA for the quarter as defined in credit agreement was $112 million, representing a 14% EBITDA margin and a 16% increase versus the second quarter of 2014.
For the first half, sales were up slightly in dollars and up 3% in constant currency.
NBTY Inc. to Close Amityville Plant, Cut 214 Jobs

NBTY Inc. announced that the company will close its Amityville manufacturing operation in October 2015 and outsource the work to a California company, a move that will eliminate 214 jobs. The plant is housed in two buildings, at 5100 and 7000 New Horizons Blvd. Layoffs will occur between July 31, 2015 and October 2, 2015.

NBTY, Inc. announced the appointment of Matthew Roberts to the newly-created role of Chief Scientific Officer. In this role, he will lead the company's innovation efforts by creating and executing product development strategies, enhancing product offerings, and driving product advancements. With more than 20 years of experience in the product development field, Matthew comes to NBTY from Abbott Nutrition, where he was most recently Divisional Vice President of Global Product Research and Development. In addition to his role as CSO, he will be a member of the NBTY Scientific Advisory Council. Matthew will begin his new role immediately and will be based in Ronkonkoma, NY.
