MACOM Technology Solutions Inc. announced that Cobalt Digital Inc. has selected MACOM’s MAEQ-23664 2nd Generation 12G-SDI Equalizer for Cobalt Digital’s new 9971-MV 4K UHD Hybrid HDMI 2.0 and 12G-SDI Multiviewer. The new multiviewer with its 4K UHD input and output support is designed to handle the latest generation of SDI standards and will be a strong addition to Cobalt Digital’s line of award winning multiviewers. MACOM’s MAEQ-23664 is a 12G-SDI cable equalizer with an integrated reclocker in a 4x4mm 16 pin Land Grid Array (LGA) package. This second generation device, first demonstrated at NAB 2016, supports the longest cable reach in the industry, achieving 100 meters over standard Belden 1694A cable.
MACOM Technology Solutions Inc. Expands 12.5Gbps Digital Crosspoint Offering with New Switch Family

MACOM Technology Solutions Inc. announced a new family of high-performance, asynchronous, fully non-blocking crosspoint switches to support 4K and 8K ultra high-definition television (UHDTV). As video content evolves beyond high definition, MACOM’s family of crosspoints support the bandwidth required to transport these higher resolutions. MACOM’s new MAXP-23008, MAXP-23012 and MAXP-23016 support switch matrix densities of 8x8, 12x12 and 16x16, respectively. The devices operate up to 12.5Gbps, thereby enabling switching and routing of numerous high resolution video formats, including UHDTV uncompressed serial digital interface (SDI) data rates of 11.88Gbps, High Definition Media Interface (HDMI) 2.1 lane speeds of 12.0Gbps and DisplayPort 1.4 lane rates of 8.1Gbps. This new family of crosspoint switches further rounds out MACOM’s extensive portfolio for the most complete offering of 12.5Gbps crosspoints in the industry. MACOM’s crosspoint switches include advanced signal conditioning capabilities which allow the devices to compensate for signal losses over extended board traces. The output drivers have adjustable output swing and programmable levels of de-emphasis which allow the user to fully optimize their link for optimum performance. Additionally, MACOM’s new crosspoint switches are designed to handle the stress of pathologoical video patterns encountered in SDI video applications.
MACOM Technology Solutions Announces Addition of Three Integrated AlGaAs Pin Diode Switches

MACOM Technology Solutions Inc. has added three PIN diode switches to its AlGaAs family. Today’s multi-market customers are demanding more bandwidth, making high frequency operation more of a necessity. At the E & W bands, transmission loss and signal integrity are critical for efficient systems. Due to the nature of AlGaAs technology for RF/uW applications the advent of PIN-based AlGaAs switches allow for signal losses to be minimal at these very high frequencies. Utilizing its AlGaAs technology to meet these demanding challenges, MACOM has designed the MASW-011094, a Ka-Band high power terminated SPDT PIN diode switch, MASW-011029, a wideband SP3T PIN diode switch and the MASW-011087, a Ka-Band SP4T PIN diode switch. Featuring MACOM’s AlGaAs technology, this family of AlGaAs products operate up to 110GHz and boast high isolation, low insertion loss and are available as reflective and terminated devices that enable the customer a broad offering of high-performance components. The low loss translates to less noise generated, while maintaining transmit and receive signal integrity. In addition, the lower power loss allows for less compensation needed further down the RF/uW signal chain. While other technologies are available, AlGaAs-based switches have a clear advantage due to their power handling and low loss characteristics. A discrete heterojunction AlGaAs PIN diode switch demonstrates a factor of two reduction in high frequency insertion loss compared to other switches in its class which equates to reliable system performance at higher frequency bands. Bandgap Engineering has been used to produce novel semiconductor structures in the microwave industry for over two decades. Utilizing the properties of multiple quantum wells, superlattices and heterojunctions, a new class of semiconductors grown by molecular beam epitaxy and metalorganic vapor phase epitaxy has been created. These band gap principles have been applied to the development of MACOM’s patented AlGaAs technology resulting in a significant advancement in the RF performance of PIN diodes.
