TVU Networks Introduces H.265/HEVC, Supported Mobile IP Newsgathering Transmitter

TVU Networks announced the immediate availability of its new TVU One with HEVC mobile IP newsgathering transmitter, which supports the H.265/HEVC video compression standard. TVU One with HEVC will be shown for the first time in its booth #C3739 in the Central Hall during NAB 2017 in Las Vegas next week. The introduction of TVU One with HEVC follows the October 2016 introduction of the rackmount MLink TE4500 H.265/HEVC and 4K encoding solution at the NAB Show New York convention. The MLink live video uplink provides cellular 4G LTE transmission capabilities to satellite and microwave vehicles, vans and trucks. The TVU One with HEVC cellular mobile solution uses both HEVC video compression and TVU's patented Inverse Statmux Plus (IS+) transmission algorithm - which transmits HD quality video with half-second latency. TVU One with HEVC is available with embedded modems and can transmit simultaneously over multiple connections, including cellular, microwave, satellite, BGAN, WiFi, and Ethernet. The TVU One with HEVC is already shipping, with orders for the compact, HEVC-compatible IP transmitters from the nationwide Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS) network. The New York bureau of TBS and RKB Mainichi Broadcasting Corp. (RKB) - a sub key station of the TBS network based in Fukuoka, Japan – have ordered multiple TVU One with HEVC units for their field operations. Weighing just 2.2 pounds, TVU One with HEVC offers a robust set of functions designed to fit the needs of any size live video broadcaster. It delivers video transmission resiliency and high-definition picture quality within an ultra-compact and rugged hardware chassis. With TVU One with HEVC, broadcasters can fully leverage the versatility of a small, lightweight, IP-based high-definition video field transmitter without sacrificing performance, features or picture quality. TVU will make its first appearance in the Central Hall this year, moving from its traditional location in South Hall. This hall will become TVU's home at the LVCC for future NAB shows. NAB 2017 runs from April 22, 2017 through the April 27, 2017 at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC).

TVU Networks Announces Availability of TVU Remote Production System

TVU Networks announced the availability of TVU Remote Production System, a new, cost-effective alternative solution for live, remote, multi-camera news and sports coverage. Traditionally, major broadcast and sporting events are produced using on-site production trucks and a large number of production crews at the location. However, a mobile production truck with full crew and dedicated transmission equipment can be an expensive and complex proposition. That changes with the official launch of TVU RPS. TVU RPS allows for the production of a live, multi-camera program in a remote location using mainly a broadcaster's existing control room in their studio and a public Internet connection from the field. The TVU RPS transmitter encodes up to four synchronized SDI sources and transmits high-quality and low-latency IP video from the remote location to a studio-based receiver. The receiver, in turn, outputs four synchronized SDI outputs. By utilizing existing in-house production staff and equipment at the studio, a broadcaster no longer needs its own production crew in the field, saving significant cost in producing a remote, multi-camera live shot. In addition, TVU RPS provides a low-latency, return video feed from the studio to the field as well as IFB. Control and metadata data can be sent to and from the remote site, including teleprompter, tally light, GPS and location specific metadata.

TVU Networks Announces TVU VR

TVU Networks announced that TVU VR, the first IP- and cellular-based live virtual reality transmission solution. Although significant research and development has gone into the development of virtual reality capture and display, the lack of a mobile transmitting device supporting virtual reality has impeded its adoption for use in sports, major events and news. TVU VR removes this barrier to larger scale adoption. By incorporating TVU's Inverse StatMux Plus (IS+) technology, TVU VR can stream live VR content from anywhere, even in a moving environment like a car or train. TVU VR delivers an ultra-high definition, full frame rate and live 360-degree fully immersive video to any VR headset. The TVU VR transmission solution is platform agnostic. It can deliver video to all major VR platforms including Google Cardboard, Oculus Rift, Samsung Gear VR, HTC Vive and others. With the ability to transmit live video, TVU VR delivers a true and convincing feeling of being teleported to the actual location, allowing broadcasters to put their viewers in the middle of the event, such as concerts, sports or news. TVU VR has the power to transport the viewer to anywhere in the world - in real-time, virtually. A pioneer in IP video technology, TVU Networks leads the way guiding thousands of companies worldwide to transition to a predominantly IP-based infrastructure. TVU's new VR solution is further proof of the technology's ability to transmit live from any video source and distribute that video to any external viewing device over IP. TVU will showcase all of its solutions, designed to help organizations fully leverage the extraordinary power of IP for video broadcast, in Booth SU4405 during NAB, to be held from April 16-21 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
