TVU Networks Corporation Key Developments

TVU Networks Partners with DJI to Deliver First Aerial Newsgathering Pack for Live Drone Video Transmission

TVU Networks and DJI announced the release of the first Aerial Newsgathering Pack, giving news organizations and professional video production crews the ability to transmit live full HD video to any broadcast facility or CDN. The solution combines DJI's Inspire 1 drone with TVU's recently introduced TVU One IP video transmitter to deliver a fully-integrated live transmission solution capable of delivering live video from practically any location. Both the TVU One transmitter and Inspire 1 drone fit in a portable pack for fast deployment. The solution is capable of transmitting in full HD with sub-second latency with more than 20 minutes of fly time for the drone and will be on display at NAB 2015 in TVU booth SU3605 and DJI booth C1707. TVU and DJI have also announced a strategic partnership that includes full integration of the entire TVUPack family of IP transmission solutions with each DJI drone solution -- including the Phantom series. As drone technology becomes more accessible to broadcast organizations, this joint partnership will enable broadcasters to quickly deploy drone technology into their existing production workflows, and use TVUPack's proven live transmission technologies to deliver professional-quality HD video. With TVUPack, HD video footage can be transmitted from the drone directly to a production facility for live on-air television broadcast or a CDN for live Web broadcasting using any combination of cellular, WiFi, Ethernet, microwave, satellite or MIMO MESH connections. This joint solution has already been used in the field, as TVU provided live mobile transmission capabilities to DJI during the launch event for the Phantom 3 drone series. During the event, Phantom 3 drones transmitted live aerial video from Santorini, Singapore and Hollywood to simultaneous live events being held in Munich, London and New York City using TVUPack transmitters and TVU Grid live IP video distribution solution.

TVU Networks Delivers Enhanced TVU Grid Solution

TVU Networks announced the release of the next generation of its TVU Grid IP video switching, routing and distribution solution. The latest version of TVU Grid delivers greater flexibility, enhanced scalability and built-in scheduling and automation tools. These enhancements to TVU Grid will be on display at the TVU Networks booth (2.B28) at IBC, September 12 to 16, 2014 in Amsterdam. TVU Grid is a powerful IP video solution that enables TV stations to manage, route, switch and distribute live video content through both public and private Internet connections. Because the solution is video-source agnostic, TVU Grid can seamlessly switch between any connected IP or SDI sources. The latest enhancements to TVU Grid include a newly designed browser-based central management tool that delivers enhanced management and control over a greater number of video streams. The company has also introduced a fully-integrated scheduling tool that enables fully automated switching between live streams. Additionally, with TVU Grid's open API, broadcasters can fully integrate the solution with other business-critical tools within their broadcast workflow including video playout, production automation and third party scheduling solutions.

TVU Networks and Vislink to Launch Fully-Integrated Microwave and Cellular IP Mobile Transmission Solution

TVU Networks and Vislink announced the launch of a next-generation TVUPack with Vislink's integrated hybrid microwave IP technology. The jointly developed TVUPack is the world's first portable IP newsgathering solution capable of simultaneously aggregating microwave bandwidth with multiple cellular data connections to deliver unprecedented quality and reliability. The TVUPack is the first fully-integrated product to emerge from the partnership between TVU Networks and Vislink announced in April, and will be on display at IBC 2014 in the TVU Networks booth (2.B28) and on the Vislink stand (1.A69). As a result of growing demand for highly resilient and portable equipment capable of meeting new standards for mobile cellular transmission, TVU and Vislink have developed a unique joint offering that integrates the TVUPack TM8200 with Vislink's hybrid microwave IP technology. Utilizing TVU's powerful Inverse StatMux IP transmission protocols, the TVUPack is able to combine multiple cellular data connections with Vislink's hybrid microwave IP technology to give broadcasters unrivalled flexibility, letting them transmit HD video simultaneously over cellular and microwave connections with sub-second latency. As a fully integrated IP newsgathering solution, the TVUPack combines best-of-breed cellular and IP microwave transmission technologies into a single mobile lightweight backpack. The joint solution delivers a number of features including: Field crews can broadcast over cellular and microwave networks simultaneously, utilizing all available bandwidth to ensure a more robust and stable transmission. The system supports up to six 3G/4G/LTE connections as well as 2 or 7 GHz microwave, users can add or remove microwave or cellular connections seamlessly without interrupting the transmission, simple one button operation eliminates the need for in-field configuration, the solution is the first to offer Vislink microwave transmission functionality in a backpack, sending video signals up to 4x farther than COFDM/DVB-T.
