Jordan Awards Contracts to Korea Southern Power and Daelim Energy for 50-MW Wind Power Projects

Jordan has awarded two power purchase agreements (PPAs) for the development of two 50 MW wind power projects. Korea Southern Power and Daelim Energy will build the first wind park for a total cost of about $110 million. The project finance will be sought from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Islamic Development Bank. Construction work is likely to begin next year with the aim of generating power by 2019. The other 50-MW project, also at an investment of $100 million, will be established by Abour Energy, a subsidiary of Saudi Arabia's Xenel Industries.

Daelim Energy Co. to Form Joint Venture with Islamic Development Bank Infrastructure Fund II

Daelim Energy Co. has agreed to form a joint venture (JV) company, Daelim EMA, with Islamic Development Bank Infrastructure Fund II (IDB Infrastructure Fund II) in Dubai. As part of the trasnaction, Daelim Energy and IDB Infrastructure Fund II will invest up to $200 million in the JV, which will carry out investments in the energy sector in the Middle East, Africa and southwest Asia.
