Sherwood Forest Hospitals Announces Management Changes

Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, or SFH, announced that Louise Scull and Peter Homa will step down from their role as chair and CEO, returning full-time to their equivalent roles at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, or NUH. Mandie Sunderland, who is currently Chief Nurse at NUH and SFH, will similarly return exclusively to her NUH role. Peter Marks, Vice-Chair at SFH will take over as SFH's Acting Chair from 24 October 2016. It is intended that Peter Herring, SFH Managing Director, will be appointed as Chief Executive subject to formal approval by the SFH Board early November. Peter Homa and Mandie will remain in post at SFH until succession arrangements are formalised.

Merger Of Hospital Trusts In Nottinghamshire Won't Happen Until 2017

The proposed merger of Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Trust and Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust has been delayed until 2017. It was hoped the merger would take place before the winter, which is historically the busiest period for hospitals, but a number of pressures, including legal aspects, mean this will no longer take place. Peter Homa, Chief Executive of NUH and SFH, said: "We remain committed to merging SFH and NUH to form Nottinghamshire University Hospitals NHS Trust, knowing this is the right decision for patients, for staff and the Nottinghamshire health and social care system. The merger will enable the delivery of consistent standards of care to patients in Nottinghamshire and bring clinical and financial sustainability to our services over the longer-term." "While this delay means both organizations will remain statutorily independent for longer, we will continue the strengthened management arrangements at SFH and use this period to maximise our preparedness and readiness for the merger in 2017. Both Trusts remain focused on improving their financial position."
