Geely Automobile Holdings Limited Enters into Memorandum of Understanding with Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Company Limited and Volvo Car Corporation to Form Joint Venture Company

The board of directors of Geely Automobile Holdings Limited announced that on 20 July 2017, the company entered into the memorandum of understanding (the "MOU") with Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Company Limited and Volvo Car Corporation (VCC) in relation to the proposed formation of a joint venture company (the "JV company") between the company, Geely Holding and VCC for the production and sale of vehicles under the Lynk & Co brand (the "Proposed Joint Venture Formation"). The scope of the JV Company is to engage in the production and sale of vehicles under the Lynk & Co brand, and the provision of after-sales services relating thereto, through the operational entities acquired or to be acquired by the JV Company.

Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Plans to Build Assembly Plant in Malaysia

Zhejiang Geely Holding Group plans to develop Malaysia as a regional assembly centre for Volvo-brand passenger vehicles in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region. Geely plans to build its own plant in Tanjung Malim within five years. The automaker has rearranged operations and plans to start construction of the plant in 2018.

Geely To Reportedly Acquire Proton

Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd. has reportedly agreed to buy Proton Holdings Bhd. from DRB-HICOM Berhad's (KLSE:DRBHCOM), beating out rival bidder Peugeot S.A. (ENXTPA:UG). Zhejiang Geely will acquire 49% stake in Proton.
