Interserve Construction Wins GBP 500 Million Multiple Awardees Contract for Construction Services

Interserve Construction Ltd., Swansea, won a GBP 500 million (excluding VAT) multiple awardees contract award from Rhondda Cynon Taf CBC to provide construction services (£3 million to £5 million) (Contract Award Notice No.: 2015/S 099-178661; Lot No.: 3). The aim of the project is to produce a framework of pre-qualified and suitably experienced contractors which will enable participating authorities to appoint contractors for construction activities in relation to schools and any other public buildings. The contracts allocated under the framework agreement may include refurbishment and/or new build, and may involve single site projects, or groups of sites, including groups involving more than one authority. The framework will be divided into lots, to achieve a range of contractor sizes and abilities in keeping with the anticipated range of projects. Continuous improvement, collaboration and measurement by key performance indicators are likely to be features of the framework.

The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) has announced the appointment of five companies to its most recent framework for the design and build of up to £250 million worth of MOD construction projects in Scotland. Under the next generation estate contracts (NGEC) programme, DIO has awarded contracts for the Framework for Capital Works Projects in Scotland, delivering construction works each valued at up to £12 million to Henry Brothers (Magherafelt) Ltd, Interserve Construction Ltd, Kier Graham Defence (a Joint Venture between Kier Construction Ltd. and John Graham Construction Ltd), Lend Lease Construction (EMEA) Ltd. and Miller Construction (UK) Ltd. The framework is estimated to be worth between £100 million and £250 million and will operate for an initial four-year period, with the option to extend by up to a further three years. When project requirements are identified as suitable for delivery through the framework, the five companies will be invited to engage in ‘mini-competitions’, tendering for design & build solutions. The initial construction projects that are likely to be delivered through the Scotland Framework include works at a variety of locations in support of the programmes for Army Basing and for Future Reserves 2020.
