T-Mobile Netherlands B.V. Key Developments

T-Mobile Netherlands to Face the Dutch Regulator ACM in Court

T-Mobile Netherlands will face the Dutch regulator ACM in court on 23 March in a case over whether zero-rated music streaming is permissible under net neutrality rules. The ACM has said T-Mobile's offer of zero-rated mobile data for music streaming violates the law, while T-Mobile prefers a different interpretation of the EU's net neutrality legislation. Introduced in October, the 'Data-free music' offer from T-Mobile gives customers with a plan of 6 GB or more per month unlimited data for music streaming from a range of providers. Around 25 providers have signed up for the offer, and T-Mobile says it is open to anyone joining. The EU law and associated guidelines from Berec do not include a strict ban on zero-rating of this sort. T-Mobile claims the EU law should prevail and the Dutch ban should be overturned. For the moment it is still offering the zero-rated streaming, while the case is before the court in Rotterdam.

T-Mobile Netherlands Reports Earnings Results for the Fourth Quarter of 2016

T-Mobile Netherlands reported earnings results for the fourth quarter of 2016. For the quarter, the company reported revenues of EUR 356 million, up 4.7% from a year earlier. EBITDA fell 35% to EUR 77 million, including a small loss from the fixed activities, and capex declined 38% to EUR 29 million. Free cash flow declined 32% to EUR 48 million.

T-Mobile Netherlands Announces Contract with Crossyn

T-Mobile Netherlands announced a contract with Crossyn. The company deploys a black box in cars that can collect information on the electronic systems in the car and save it in the cloud. T-Mobile signed a five-year contract to provide connectivity services for 'thousands' of connections on the IoT platform. Crossyn plans to start testing its services this year, including services for insurers interested in collecting information on customers. Crossyn also targets direct sales to consumers, to help save on maintenance costs.
